If you think there is a real "threat" there (and for the record, I don't recall any threats of any kind), you can go ahead and find it and at last have some half-measure of forcefulness behind your argument.

By all means don't put yourself out. If your vast network of informants can't assist you with a link, I suppose I will just have to look through the thread myself.

Is that the only place you are aware of where there was talk of going to the papers and such if Will's article wasn't pulled?

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

Lol. Wade, that's not what I said. No one said anything about "going to the papers," as far as I know.

No. I said so at precisely the right moment that I should.

But if you suspected me of making threats to the MI, it sounds like Scratch has much better informants than you do.

That may be so.

Of course not. Discerning which of your vague claims you actually expect me to reply to has been the only "hard" part of this exchange.

Nuances can be "hard" for some, but I am glad you finally managed.

I was not and am not. The only type of "threat" I could even imagine that could factor into a decision like that would be threats of disaffiliation and/or withdrawal of funds. But I have no knowledge of any persons who went so far as to do that.

Now I am satisfied.

Interesting. I appreciate you going on record about this.

Wade,

Are you under the impression that key people at either FAIR or FARMS felt that they were being "threatened" by things that were said on this board?

Wade,

You are a good guy, and I like you a lot, so I’m gonna level with you. My Dad has a few ties with some of the Brethren via business, he was able to put me in touch with two individuals, who had the common decency to hear me out. I calmly explained to them, that I thought Will was bad PR, and that he would damage the Church’s image if any of his work saw the light of day. Both seemed very interested and told me they’d have a talk about M.I. and see if they couldn’t do something about it.

The “threats” you probably heard about were from me. I couldn’t let Will’s work get out there, I had to do something and I did.

To play your usual obfuscatory games? You sure did.

Mmmhmm. Maybe someday you'll figure out that we all know what obscurantisme terroriste is and that game has gotten old.

In the meantime, you'll just have to get used to begging people by name to pay your posts any attention after lengthy periods of us ignoring you.

I am under the impression that threats (along the lines of raising a stink in the press and such if the paper were published) were made that influenced the decision to jettison Will's article. I have no impression as to where and how exactly the alleged threats were made or conveyed to the person or persons who made the decision.

Just to be clear, my interest in this specific matter isn't because I have the least care about the inner-workings of MI and wish to stick my nose in their business. I don't. Rather, I merely want to see just how far some people were desirous to take this matter--i.e. I want to see if this was simply about encouraging an apology and improving board interactions, or if it went well beyond that to targeted character assassinations and silencing opponents.

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

You can't imagine how devastating this is to me. Now that Will is gone, and DCP has wisely avoided these environs, the curse now falls to me to be the most ignored participant here at MD. How will I bear the loneliness. Obfuscation indeed. You're the funny lady.

I appreciate you stating this for the record. And, while I think you were wildly mistaken in your judgements of Will and your actions to silence him, I still view you as a good guy too.

At the very least this means that my so-called impression wasn't entirely without merit, my alleged obfuscations notwithstanding.

Will and DCP cleared out?

Huh.
