I received an email from a source who will remain anonymous, that essentially said that a group of MDers (including MsJack, harmony, beastie, Kevin Graham, Doctor Scratch, MrStakhanovite, and Spurven Ten Sing, among others), conspired together. They threatened the MI by saying that, if the MI published Will's work, they would go public in a major way with their allegations—contacting newspapers, other ex-Mormon sites, various blogs, etc.

Actually, our master publicity plan was to streak the next FAIR Conference with the letters "S-C-H-R-Y-V-E-R-I-S-B-U-T-T-H-E-A-D" painted across our bare bodies in dark blue, white and tan body paint (COUGARS REPRESENT!). We figured the people there could appreciate the acrostic. David Bokovoy even agreed to serve as our get-away driver, and MrStakhanovite put in a call to his contacts in Church Headquarters to make sure we could not and would be arrested (or shot) by the Sandy police.

The Maxwell Institute knew better than to mess with that, so they had no other choice but to scrap William's projects.

You claim to be a Christian but you are amused that someone was trolled? You like it when people get riled up? Should a Christian glory in someone being trolled? You are a good guy, and I like you a lot, so I’m gonna level with you. My Dad has a few ties with some of the Brethren via business, he was able to put me in touch with two individuals, who had the common decency to hear me out. I calmly explained to them, that I thought Will was bad PR, and that he would damage the Church’s image if any of his work saw the light of day. Both seemed very interested and told me they’d have a talk about M.I. and see if they couldn’t do something about it.

The “threats” you probably heard about were from me. I couldn’t let Will’s work get out there, I had to do something and I did.

You have to understand that you came to the forum during a time when Will's sock puppets were being born every other hour. Your first post I saw was one on that thread where you appeared to be defending Will, and so I admit I believed you were a sock puppet of his, initially. But after reading through your posting history, I admit I was wrong. You're not Will Schryver. You're just some other dill-hole.

That wade took your bait shows how much he has invested in the "threat conspiracy" as the only possible explanation of why the MI declined to publish WS.

It also shows how little wade pays attention to people on this forum or the things they write. Despite the calling you "a good guy," wade has no idea how you've presented yourself on this board, and thus how unlikely it was that your post was anything but a leg pull.

That it was believed so easily also shows something about how wade understands "the church:" as an institution in which business contacts and family pull are what gets you the ear of "the Bretheren."

Okay...now I am obliged to come back yet again to admit I was wrong. While some of what Stak said earlier seemed a bit far fetched to me (I thought it somewhat odd that a non-believer would care so much about the reputation of the Church and the MI), I was evidently mistaken to assume he was being genuine and for taking him at his word. My bad. It was clearly a great joke on me, and one I can laugh with you about.
