Nothing to wonder.
As a pensioned soldier, I worked five year for a multi. Not a secret (now), it was the Siemens.
As it is about communication, we had "unlimited" phone and internet access. Free of charge - and total recorded.
I could reach with the help of (c)Helpdesk (the censors,,,)
- ETB's "Fourteen Fundamentals" because of the word fourteen
and
- virginia.edu, to download one truetype character set, because of virgin

You know, filtering pedophile things.

by the way
I was a teacher in the army 39 years.
Do You know the differerence of pedagogue and pedophile?

I was doing some googling at a church building on a church computer and when I clicked on one of the links it told me the site was forbidden or filtered because it contained the word "homosexual." I was trying to access a news article on a television show.

I just thought that was interesting. I am glad no alarms sounded or anything.

I would be surprised about this since many sites contain the word homosexual such as the New York Times. And why were you clicking on websites that had to do with sex or sexuality on a church website? Seems you were looking for trouble.

Why are you asking questions the original poster answered?

This is what is strange. I could access wiki articles on actors in the tv show (some of which say the word gay or homosexual). I think I can access anything on wiki through the church internet. Obviously all of LDS.org can be accessed as well.

I'm wondering if it is a filter that has specified to allow all of certain web addresses and block others using keywords.

first why are you using the Church internet system as a personal internet. Secondly, why do you think the Church waited so long to actually put internet in the US Buildings --- hint, many high level and mass destructive internet viruses also end up on Gov. computers, because knuckles head are abusing the internet at the respective place where the internect can be found.

Third, as i understand it, many website also have some kind of "rating" associated with the site. So that "homosexual" in one place may get blocked but homosexual in another place will get block.

Lastly and most importantly, You do realize how much confidential information is found on the computers at a Church building, why would you comprise yours and the whole wards confidentially over a tv show article?
