I guess we Southern Californians were so unused to seeing immodest swimwear that we needed more protection than you did.

I am not referring to the swimsuits that Mormon women or men wore. Of course, bikinis were a no-no. But certainly no one asked if one looked at girls and boys in swimsuits. The beach is full of people in bikinis and speedos. One can not look at the sand.

Maybe so. NYC was the place to be. The big city can transform minds and many Utah minds were transformed in NYC in the 70's and 80's. It was a pleasure to see their liberation. It was a real pleasure to see Utah gals become liberated. I still remember the young adult model shows that were held at the ward and the discos. The Megapolis disco event was a real winner under the sparkling disco ball.

I'm from a big city, too, second largest in the United States. I just find it rather strange for an ersatz LDS church member to criticize us because our wards and stakes actually believed and followed the church's counsel. I guess that would explain why you're not active in the church.

In my stake, they did. We were counseled to avoid beaches (like Pt. Dume) where immodest people might be around and to avoid any prolonged viewing of girls in bikinis at the beach. My friend had a poster in his room:

The bishop warned us against having anything like that around. So, he cut the poster so that it was just her torso. Nope, not good enough for the bishop. Then he cut it until it was just her head. Still wasn't good enough. Her head, it appears, was enough to stimulate unworthy thoughts.

Ah, the good old days of sexual repression.

Actually, it did come out that quite a few of the Mormons or former Mormons who post on this forum had my experiences with young women without a sense of guilt.

Actually no it did not. There were a few that said they engaged in dry humping but and I recall maybe one said that they did not feel to bad about it. None blather on and on about how it was so acceptable and all and how everyone did it.

But you are to dense to get the point. So what if you did this and did not feel guilty. It certainly was not and is not within the realm of acceptable behavior as far as the Church is concerned. Spencer Kimball would have chewed you up and spit you out over this.

And I am sure that one of your questions as bishop to good ol' Peter Priesthood was: Did you ever look at swimsuits?

Did I say that? Though bishops do question about porn. And Dallon Oaks said in conference that immodestly dressed girls can become walking pornography.

Bingo! Look I live in the east. Girls at church activities cannot wear two piece suits. Shorts that are too short are not acceptable, even at an all girls camp! Dance standards are pretty high. If why me ran in a crowd that had guilt free grinding and petting (through light cotton of course) then they were a small minority that was somehow able to ignore what the Church taught then and now about such things.

Perhaps really they were the lucky ones.

But for Why me to go on about how because THEY though this was ok it was ok it ludicrous.

I don't have the quote off hand, but several years ago one of the GA's said that women were walking pornography if they weren't modest.

Basically it is always the woman's fault for anything the man is tempted by or does.
