It seems tragic that force had to be used in this case. I feel strongly that I have been misrepresented in the worst fashion on this board and on others throughout the apostate cyber-world. But you all had it coming.

You see, in America we are a civil society wherein poor behavior is not condoned when it crosses into harassment, bullying, theft of ideas, and other vile behavior. I'm an IP attorney and I'm really disappointed at how quickly this site caves in to anyone who makes an allegation against it. I don't know what SGW threatened, but removing the thread was an over-reaction. Transfer ownership of the board to me and I'll show you how to stand up to these stupid threats.

That's old school Kish. We had a whole team of "Banites" who were banned from the MAD board back when this board was young in 2007 and posters had only a couple hundred posts.

First, I need to know exactly what happened and what SGW threatened. I read the thread that Chris started and even SGW's little wank novel so I know about that. I didn't see a picture of his family, but I understand someone posted one. Oh, and people made fun of him. Is that the extent of the offense?

What did SGW threaten to do? Did he actually have an attorney send a letter? If so, please post it. Otherwise, give me the gist of what he claimed.

I have to run today and won't be available much, but I will try to keep up.

By the way, when it comes to libel, Crocket did a good job setting out some of the general principles over on MDD.

About 99% of what I see on anti-Mormon boards saying evil things about Dr. Peterson or Will Shryver or others does not remotely approach libel. Making fun of Dr. Peterson's academics, or appearance, or church assignments and doing so with nasty language shows poor moral character but is not libel.

Trying to ruin somebody's reputation alone is not libel. Book review critics or theatrical critics could be said to be ruining somebody's reputation.

Acting maliciously is not alone libel.

You have to say something that is not true, and you know it isn't true (or you're reckless about it) and it causes damage to reputation and it isn't opinion. "Bill's a child molester." "Jane stole money from the church." "Ben bribed a public official." "Evan beat his wife." Not "Dan's dissertation is a fraud." "Joe is a lousy bishop." "Brandt is a bad father." "You've alwasy been an idiot." "You were a poor student." "You left your mission too early for improper reasons."
