I don't want clients knowing about other clients, or clients trying to contact me in ways other than professionally. I know it sounds a little strange, but it's kind of an industry/contractor thing.

Well, that or he is working for LDS Church Security as a private contractor. Which, when you think of it, is really the same thing.
