Buflo, you seem to have a problem understanding things. I don't seek out criminal activity on the internet. I saw it day to day for years and that was more than enough.

I see photographic images on some sites I visit and when I get the feeling they are 'too good' I check the metadata and IPTC/XMP files if available. When I find they appear to be lifted from another site I check. I have posted on here to the person displaying the image asking if they have permission to use the image. I have done this a number of times. If I do not get them saying they own the images or have a licenses to use them I contact the person listed in the data on the image.

Simple as that.

Photographs are intellectual property and have value. Not controlling their use can dilute that value. Some who own the images will let you use them on an internet forum, some won't. Checking before posting only makes sense. Not checking makes you a criminal in some cases and subject the ISP who allows it and the site posting it to be the subject of legal action if the copyright owner does not want the image used or displayed. Simply providing a link where viewers can click on it and view the image in its original location presents no problem.

That so many here think stealing is OK comes to me just like the offenders and scrotes who were caught and blamed everything but their own criminal activity for the situation.

Ask, don't steal. It is just that simple.

One of these days BYU and deseret news might decide to lower the boom for using their photos on these sites without permission.(without 'fair use' protection) They have a lot of lawyers who are true believers who will be paid to rain on your parade. The site and the members do not need that - and if you don't think they would do it you are fooling yourself. One only need to look at the Tanners and Utah Lighthouse Ministry to see how mean these sharks can get.

The DMCA of the porn writer may not even be valid, but it got the site shut down for a bit. What happens when a valid one comes up? What happens when a web program for photos searches the WWW and shows 30+ photos from Deseret News displayed in posts on this site?

Don't steal the work of others. Get permission or don't use it or use photos that are in the public domain. That solves the problem.

If I see it I will check it. If that is a problem for you I suggest you think about your possible criminal tendencies and change your ways.

Yeah, I'm putting him on ignore. I've tried to be tolerant, but I don't need more crazy in my life. OCD is a terrible thing, and I feel bad for him, but enough is enough.

Hello,

I'm putting Mr. Joseph on Ignore because he's too unhinged.

Dr. Shades,

I'd recommend you ban Mr. Joseph from this forum. He's a direct threat to you, to this board, and to anyone who runs afoul of his particular set of "ethics".

I call for a ban, as well, and I have called for a ban for many months now.

Some of you are crying more than OJ.

Or, to put in a perspective you will understand... more than Evan Meacham when the Mormon governor of Arizona was nailed for his thieving ways. He cried like this as well.

I dislike the idea of banning anyone.

But on the other hand I feel quite uncomfortable about being on a board where somebody so obviously unhinged as Joseph can pop up anywhere.

I am honestly becoming convinced that he is in serious need of an urgent medical intervention.

I am not a medical professional, but I have known someone who talked the same way (obsessions about trivia, conviction of absolute self-righteousness, total inability ever to change the subject or to dialog), and that did not end well for that person or those around him.

Could he not at least be sent on a short break until he has calmed down?

Oddly enough, I believe this is plausible. PP seems to have a different style and voice in general than Joesph--PP being far more sexually fixated in humor / insults. However, there are some things I have heard elsewhere that make me wonder. Also, PP is apparently skilled with Photoshop. For some reason I thought there was a connection between PP and Mahonri and also Joseph and Mahonri. Coincidence? Maybe. If PP is Joseph, I think PP is a reasonably skilled puppet-master.
