They are really scraping if this is what they have come up with. It doesn't surprise me that they would find unsavory posts and members on a board that does not ban anyone (including some apologists that even they won't suffer) or censor practically anything. It does surprise me that this was the most damning thing they could come up with... some ancient, unsubstantiated accusation from a lady who, If I recall correctly, was not all that objectionable but perhaps troubled.

Compare this with the fact that the MDD board has moderation policies that would make the Chinese government censors proud, and I can't say I am all that concerned with their opinion about much of anything. And I don't really say this to be mean. They do their thing. We do ours. I prefer ours, for all of its very real pitfalls.

That is why this is so despicable of Nemesis. He is using a very sad case to try and score a point. I hope the poster in question has gone on to a healthier state, because she was a decent, intelligent, and caring human being. But the stories she told didn't always add up, which is something I discovered only after the fact.

Sorry - do we know that Pahoran is relying on Nemesis for his assertion? If so, how please?

I guess we don't. I just made that assumption because Nemesis mentioned it more than once in his latest jihad.

We know he didn't get his version of events by reading the threads in question. Maybe he got it from Why Me.

edit: I'm probably mixed up here. If you're asking about his assertions about Moniker, I don't have any contribution. His assertions re SGW events are bullroar.

I also worked on the companion Troubleshooting Guide which had a super cool fold-out flow chart centerfold. I can't begin to describe the horror those two tomes were. All us technical writers and editors used to go to a bar called the Goalpost and drink tequila shots and play Space Invaders to rid that evil from our souls.

This is really cool stuff, Blixa! Thanks for sharing!

You gotta look at it from a Mormon's point of view though! I mean, they think the Book of Mormon is a masterpiece! So ya can't really blame Pahoran for getting aroused by Berman's Mo'erotica , to the point of maximum splashdown. . . can ya?

So you're begging for trouble or what? Feeling attention-deprived, maybe?

Its simply the truth, and a truth well understood as grounded in the very nature of apostasy by any Latter day Saint who has followed the counter-cult movement among EVs for any length of time, or the animadversions of the more secularistic (indeed, militantly so in many cases) apostates of the "exmo" variety as well represented in this forum.

Will never claimed to have called anyone the c-word. Ever. He has been consistent in saying it is a vicious lie.

You've gotta admit it Beastie, Pahoran has a point there. Last I checked, the board rules prohibit linking to in real life information of any board members and SGW has an account here.

beastie wrote: The person in question, who was emotionally troubled and told other stories, including some about active members, as well, never claimed that as far as I know, and I am familiar with her claims.

I wasn't aware of any active members being implicated.

Kishkumen wrote:I would say that any loyal Latter-day saint who is either disingenuous, a sophist, a nuisance, or just a plain asshole probably does paint a target on his or her back by posting here in ways that reflect those characteristics. Big surprise.

Compare them with those who don't resemble one of those descriptors, and the likelihood that everyone will dog pile that person greatly diminishes.

So why do people pile on Daniel Peterson? Is he disingenuous? a sophist? a nuisance? How about Nehor? I think the reason I'm not targeted is simple: I don't criticize the thoughts of critics much. Oh sure, maybe I criticize stuff by Buffalo or Sockpuppet, but we've got a special thing going.

Yup, that seems to have been the one exception. The rest he did not dispute, and the rest was a very great deal, enough to make the Maxwell Institute dump him.

You do not seem to be disagreeing with beastie here.
