If the founding fathers will still alive and such a church can be allowed to annoy the grieving, I would say that they are responsible. Shades who oversees this board has an obligation to watch that personal attacks do not happen on this board.

FYI,

Total bill.................................. $5,800.00
Total dental ins. that Ceeboo has.....$ 0.00

:)

Peace,

That sucks, fyi, i had to have braces three times. Once for a slight correction of bite at a younger age, once for 3 months when i was playing football and got a tooth knocked out (helped stabilize when tooth was shoved back in my mouth), and once for a broken jaw which is another sporting injury.

Medical covered one instance. My parents had good dental insurance for the first one. By the time the third incident occurred dental insurance was yanked.

Just realised I might actually have to clarify this:

I think the Westboro Baptist Church are full of disgusting (and / or often horribly misguided) individuals, and I certainly have no problem forcing them to remain 'X' yards away from any funeral they are attempting to defile with their presence.

As I just said: personal attacks such as just happened with Juliann should not be permited. Likewise when children engage in internet bullying against someone they don't like. It can be harmful. Adults shuld know better and be an example for the younger generation.

Amen. Nemesis' argument is without merit.

And why should we be surprised? They like a world governed by powerful authorities who police the landscape and toss people out whenever these authorities deem it a good thing.

That is the culture of the LDS Church, and it is well reflected on MDD.

Nemesis likes it and is welcome to it. Anyone who prefers that over this is welcome to join them, and welcome to come here whenever they like too.

Do I feel bad for participating in discussions in a place where people have done unsavory things? No.

It is like asking whether I am morally culpable for the fact that pedophiles are allowed to live in my town. Where would I live if I found this unacceptable?

Where someone like Nemesis starts a little compound for the moral giants of the universe, and those who fail to "live up" (and the definition of that is very uncertain) are thrown out on their ears? No thanks.

Nemesis has such a fundamentally different worldview from ours that this discussion is really not worth having, except to point out the gulf that lies between us.

So who stops it? Have you started to petition for the destruction of memegenerator? What fantasy world do you inhabit in which Dr. Shades has super, creepy, mind-reading powers and can control what people do? Why do you want to live there? Your demands are beyond ridiculous.

Dr. Shades,

NO!

You are responsible for allowing us a forum where WE create the culture.

Seriously, is Bill Gates responsible for what I write in Word?

Are the builders of my house responsible for how I decorate it?

This idea that you are responsible for the culture is CRAZINESS!

I completely agree with your vision of a board where everyone is welcome and ideas are freely exchanged. Yes, it means we have some folk on the fringe of normalcy, (smile), but as you said, we take the good and the bad.

I love this!

For anyone who every complains about this board, I remind them that they can create the experience that works for them. We have several different forums to accommodate various tastes; and we have the ignore feature!

Again, you are responsible for providing a forum where everyone is welcome!

I thank you for it!

People should not make unwarranted personal attacks. Of course I agree with that.
Blaming Dr. Shades for other peoples actions is unwarranted and misguided.

Likewise when children engage in internet bullying against someone they don't like. It can be harmful.

I also agree that children need appropriate supervision and enforced boundaries from guardians / adults.
