Cassius University To Once Again Help LDS Apologists
In light of the WS debacle, the John Lund scandal and other various boners committed by LDS apologists, Cassius University agreed to step up to the plate last month and offer its experience in putting on a free seminar to help. The agenda for last month was:
9:00-10:00
"Why It's Probably Not a Good Idea to Degrade Women in a Public Forum" Presentation by Dr. Cam
10:00-12:00
"How to Not Win Friends and Not Influence People Online, A Brief Retrospective of DCP" Presentation by DarthJ
12:00-1:00 A light lunch of NeFries and Waters of Mormon will be served in the Cassius Center for International Studies
1:00-3:00
"Why Stealing is Probably a Bad Idea for Apologists and Other Nuggets of Wisdom" Presentation by Dr. Scratch
3:00-5:00
Q&A session and special rap muscial number "If I Could Hie to Kolob" by Dr. Kishkumen
This was a highly successful and popular event for apologists. Cassius University did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, recent events have made a second seminar for LDS apologists necessary. I propose the following agenda:
9:00-10:00
“Why Writing Erotic Stories While Simultaneously Publishing LDS Apologetic Material is Probably a Bad Idea”
Presentation by Dr. Scratch
10:00-12:00
“Why Proclaiming a Board War on a Board that Claims to Promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ is Probably a Bad Idea and Might Send Mixed Signals”
Presentation by Dr. Kishkumen
12:00-1:00 A light lunch and a special reading of “At The Ocean” by Dr. DarthJ, accompanied by Janice Kapp Perry on the harp at the Cassius Center for International Studies
1:00-3:00
“Why it’s Good PR for a Moderator of a Religious Board to Not Have a Public, Paronoid and Hate-Filled Meltdown”
Presentation by Dr. Cam
3:00-6:00
“Ashes to Ashes: A Cautionary Tale of the Brief Rise and Fall of Michael Ash; or It’s Hard to be Taken Seriously as a Scholar When Your Articles All Suck”
Joint Presentation by Gidianton/Zeezrom
I know this is asking a lot from Cassius University, but in the interest of fostering friendship and unity, I hope they will seriously consider putting on a second seminar.

What an honor.

With so much academic production in addition to their teaching duties (as well as gracing us with their postings) I hope the Cassius faculty is getting enough sleep.
Whatever appears to be against the Book of Mormon is going to be overturned at some time in the future. So we can be pretty open minded.-charity 3/7/07

Will continuing education credits in apologetics be available for those attending?
Considering the critical need for continuing education (or any kind of education) in the apologetics community it serves, perhaps The University should establish an ongoing seminar series with offerings such as.
- Defending the indefensible
- Creative denial
- The ad hominem attack: tactic of first resort
- Misogyny and homophobia: gender neutral denial of rights
- Recent advances in magical thinking
- Lying for the Lord: Not as bad as it sounds
- MIUAYGA (Making It Up As You Go Along): a new paradigm for development of quasi-Christian religions in America

Good point. I would like to see mandatory continuing education credits be imposed on LDS apologists. The Church could associate with Cassius University and make attendance at these seminars mandatory for anyone interested in becoming an apologist.

I had to drop the seminar lest I lose all credibility with the intellectually honest. You get what you pay for.

Unless it's all of Cassius falling on their swords to restore their honor not much help they can give.
