why me wrote:Dear zee, I have been around coffee drinkers for a long time. What I do find is that coffee drinkers have a difficult time going through the morning without that cup of coffee. Maybe you have not expeienced it yet but it will come as you make it a regular drink. It is a sedative that is addictive and without it in the morning, headaches come and nerves become edgy as the body is craving that drink. Good luck.
This observation of yours (placing a group of people in a bucket) fits perfectly into your judgmental world.
Zee, coffee is an acquired taste. Just like black liquorice, you either like it or you don't. I've been a coffee drinker since I was 15 and I drink more than 2 cups a day. My dad was the same way and he drank a pot of coffee a day and lived to be 80. There are people that smoke and live to be 80, just as there are fitness nuts that drop dead at 40 from a heart attack. The health statistics are skewed in my opinion, because most people who smoke also drink coffee, so the data encompasses one group into another. If you're looking for health benefits in the antioxidants, there is a valid reason, but it probably doesn't outweigh the potential negatives. Personally, I really don't care... I love coffee. From comedian John Mendoza (walks on stage with a lit cigarette) "They say smoking takes ten years off your life. So what do I miss? Drooling all over myself?" The point is simple things like bacon and fast food can do more to kill you, but how long do you really want to live? 90? Coffee is an appetite suppressant, so if one lost extra weight by drinking it, I would argue the health benefits from not carrying the extra weight would outweigh the potential negatives. Everyone's body works differently and i don't get headaches if I don't drink it, but that rarely happens.

This is a good point. Even if it's soda pop without caffeine, that man-made toxic junk is far worse that some natural beans. I can't remember the last time I drank a can of sody pop.
So Zee, once you acquire a taste for Starbucks quality coffee you'll be hooked (that's why there's one on every corner), but I would argue it's worth it... yum.
