Fetishes and modesty.

Post by _Fiannan »

I actually do believe in modesty -- based on circumstances. For instance, I do not like to see guys shirtless at the mall...but if they want to take their shirts off at the beach then so what?

However, with the weather turning warm, and the tops on women going down and the skirts going up, I suddenly wonder how far we should take the concept of modesty -- especially as it relates to fetish.

For example, there are men who are more turned on by bare women's feet than by bare breasts. So should we discourage young women from going barefoot? There are also people turned on by eyes, earlobes, even underarms. What about that? And on top of that, some guys find a woman dressed from head to toe a turn on.

So what should we do, go burka? Sad part is, there are probably guys with burka fetishes.

You know, men in societies where the women go topless don't seem to be going crazy all the time at seeing all the bare breasts. It's all about what you're used to seeing.

Fiannan, my fav guy to discuss polygamy with because you never cease to amazing me.

I personally feel that LDS should consider teaching married couples how to develop new fetishes. If the husband has slightly larger ears than what is considered normal by Hollywood standards, they should teach the wife how to gain a fetish of ears and earlobes. Just think of how that might spice things up!

What is wromg with looking at people and enjoying the beauty thereof?

Perhaps we should encourage people from a young age to learn about and appreciate sexuality, the human form and the differences and similarities between the sexes.

Male sexuality is not bad. The female form is not bad. And vice versa.

If a man or woman finds themselves so distracted by the beauty of people around them that they are unable to focus on daily living they probably need to talk to a professional about it. It isn't the problem of the people around him.

Somehow tribal people today who wear very little clothing still manage to get things done. Like Buffalo said, in other cultures where women go topless in public the men aren't walking around crazy or in a lustful stupor. I've heard that men who frequent nudist retreats do not walk around aroused by the naked women.

I've posted this before, but I like the story. During WWII my Dad was posted to a part of the world where women never covered their breasts. He was a little shocked at first, but he said it took about a week before he no longer noticed.

Modesty has a lot to do with what a particular society considers taboo.

A very old Playboy cartoon has two men talking in a nudest colony. A shapely naked woman walks past them. One guy says "Wow! I bet she would look great in a tight sweater".

I spent many years as a medical photographer. The nature of the work required my seeing many thousands of naked people of both sexes and all ages. From young and beautiful to old and wrinkled. Painfully thin to morbidly obese.

Generally, people look much better wearing clothes (even the cute ones).

Why zeezrom, is your use of "amazing" rather than "amaze" a typographical Fuedian slip? If so thank you.

Do you think that would also work for things that are undersized? Just hoping.

Could they be Mormon? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nds7gMFsIiA

Seriously though, maybe one could create a conditioned response in people, as Quasimodo has suggested, but I am not sure. I mean think of it, if one sings a certain hymn when they see a scantly clad woman might they actually get turned on when they hear that in church?
