All are welcome, but they must leave their religion at the door.

That, of course, would go without saying, as the religion of secular humanism is incomparable with the religion of Christ, and most other traditional theistic belief systems as well.

Humanism and the various immanantizations of the Christian eschaton (following Eric Voegelin) they have spawned over the last two centuries indicates that secular humanism is a jealous god indeed.

Your religion is irrelevant to the aims of the organization.

If this is the case, then why do I have to leave it at the door?

Antithetical to 2 Nephi 2. I have to agree with the earlier assesment that this is similar to the Humanist Manifesto; something that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is at war with and exists as an insidious sub-culture within the secret combination known as the Democratic Party.

Leave it to bc to do a cannonball right in the middle of the pool just as everyone's changed into dry clothes.

Heh heh...

In any event, yes, its all a part of the "secret combinations" and "spiritual wickedness in high places" of the Last Days. Its simply yet more, if urbane and sophisticated, warmed over Korihorism.

He that has ears to hear, as the scriptures plead with us, let him hear.

Do you know how to recognize secret combinations? They have secret handshakes and passwords. My community doesn't have any of those. Does your church?

I guess I'm trying to figure out what this is, in relation to who I am (not that it matters except in the general sense, because I"m not in Utah and have no plans to ever be there for any extended length of time)

It doesn't sound antireligious as much as it is a-religious. Your religion is irrelevant to the aims of the organization.

That is right. The purpose of the organization is to fulfill the role that religions typically play in a community without the metaphysics. God is irrelevant to the community.

Then what differentiates it from a PTA or Parents Without Partners or any other organization that meets regularly?

I think the answer is in your question. The PTA is about the Parents and Teachers Association. Parents Without Partners is about single parenting. As to "any other organization that meets regularly?"--You're damned kidding right? You really see no difference between this and any organization that meets at regular time intervals? How obtuse.

I guess it's been a long while since you've been away from the LDS church -- you've forgotten everything, it seems.

You cannot just "create" a community, John. They are naturally formed by geography, or by affiliation with groups (religions, groups with similar interests, etc.).

Obviously not long enough to catch you in a lie.
