That saddens me, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I have done everything I can do. If you choose to hang on to something I said to you over a year ago, and have now publicly and privately apologized for twice, then the problem lies with you, not me.

You obviously did not read my [edited] post.

Just read it. I appreciate it.

Hopefully, this incident can be put behind us.

Whaa?

It is true. I was surprised too when I found out, but I think we have something like a dozen academics who regularly post on this forum. I also know of one doctor and two lawyers (including you).

Oh yeah, you have Will Shryver. I'll credit you him.

LOL! I'm sure you and virtually ever other Mormon would love to "credit" us one of the most embarrassing apologists ever to defend the Church. But we both know Will Schryver is a product of the MAD board. He never comes here to debate, he only shows up on occasion to call us names and brag about something that's usually never going to happen.

And, yes, I really do think the creep factor is the problem over here. People who don't have sufficient people skills to withstand a banning.

The only person I know who is like that is Droopy, who we both know is one of your own. He is the one who ran over here to complain about MAD after they banned him, and he is one of the most die-hard apologists you'll ever see.

Look at poor Consigleri, obviously a smart fellow, who kept his faithless sarcasm in tow for a long, long time before being kicked off for something mean-spirited.

I don't know mush about him. Wasn't he recently banned for starting a thread on the NAMI's castigation of Will Schryver? That hardly seems "mean spirited" to me. In fact, most of what you and those mods call mean spirited is really innocuous when compared to some of their attacks on apostates. I mean for crying out loud, they are still calling the lot of us "traitors" and "apostates" and "covenant breakers" etc, and their king Mod is accusing the entire community of something that one person did. Mean-spirited maybe? Not when those being attacked are the people on this forum. It is a double-standard.

His mental collapse obviously occurred, as he explained, when he was not permitted to teach Gospel Doctrine any more. Will wonders never cease

So? You give me consig and I raise you a Seattle Ghost Writer. You give me Scratch and I'll raise you a William Schryver. You give me Dr.Cam and I'll raise you a Pahoran. We can do this all day, and I guarantee you MAD comes out on the short end of the stick. But the fact remains the posters here are far more intelligent and well mannered as a whole. MAD seems to be overwhelmed by a growing number of rather ignorant amateurs. The more informed folks are making their presence scarcer each year.

And of course some of what we do here is entertain ourselves by sharing excerpts from such threads, and laugh at their expense. I know, it probably pisses off the mods there, but that's one of the consequences of running a forum like that.

Kevin,

For a time I believe that MDD was closing threads automatically after they became so old (perhaps judged by the last post, not the first).

I've also seen some threads close not due to the subject matter, but because a fight happened to break out in the middle of it from tangential issues.

I think LDS apologetics can handle it just fine. Mormon Dialogue is only a small part in a big pond though it might be one of the larger amalgamations. And not everyone there is afraid of open and honest discussion but like the company at least.

Head to head, LDS apologetics wins every encounter. The only reason why it might look to be flailing sometimes is because it is heavily outnumbered.

Kevin Graham wrote:Your delusions of grandeur notwithstanding, if it is just one fish in a pond, then it is a pond full of the same kinds of fish, apparently. Otherwise, show me a single LDS debate forum run by LDS apologists, which does what you describe. Just one. In my experience, the opposite is true. From various Facebook discussions, to dedicated, serve-based php forums, all debates moderated by LDS members are essentially just like MAD. So it isn't really that unique among LDS forums, it just happens to benefit from more funding (fancier graphics interface, better server, and software features) and better advertisement, thanks to the fact that it was created by the BOD of FAIR.

Kevin I think you hit the nail on the head. BC can crow all he wants. But what but a few LDS apologetic types are willing to debate and discuss on a board where there is not protection?

ZLMB started as such a place that was lightly moderated. But defenders eventually left there for the FAIR board which was moderated more favorably and really resulted from defenders not being satisfied with ZLMB. FAIR became MAD and MAD became MDD. And over time the moderating has become more onerous in favor of defenders. You show it here.

Really as I noted in a thread in the telestial forum, the MDD board and its moderators are more like, and even more heavy handed, then the old Utah Lighthouse Message Board. Nemesis is Web Guy in LDS form.

So really where it the board where defenders defend so successfully without some sort of protection? It does not exist. FAIR Board, MAD and now MDD was really the place for the defenders to flock.

Every antiMormon argument so far contains a lie, an exaggeration, is based on an invalid or non reference, or fails to take everything into consideration. No exceptions.

No not really. Well some EV rag mills give poor arguments. But the best arguments against are by LDS intellects and honest historians that let the chips fall where they may. And also the defenses are often just not up to snuff and holes are easily poked in the arguments that the convince many that things are not well in Zion.

But I just keep repeating your mantra and you may stay safe.

Every LDS person is a defender of the faith, and therefore an apologist. Therefore every such forum is part of the pond.

In other words you can't do what Kevin asks.

It seems to depend on tolerance for what every antiMormon argument contains as I've listed above. Nontolerance for such does not hinder the freedom of a forum. Blocking valid discussion of LDS topics does and you and I would both agree MDD does that.

Well I give you kudos for that.

Every thread I counted as "closed" was started between now and January, so a six month window. I think you're referring to stuff in the archives, which I didn't include. I agree that a lot of these threads were shut down because they were off topic but I think most of them covered issues that were too critical of the Church and they couldn't neutralize that problem via debate.

I mean if you think about it, they are willing to address serious attacks so long as they thing they have a viable apologetic explanation. My point is that their decision to punt most of the time is a testament to the failure and futility of modern LDS apologetics.

I think you overstate it. In the US it is about 40% to 50% but not the rest of the world. In non US.Canada areas it is about 20% to 30% and some places even lower.

TBM rate (TR holding and tithe paying) is about 33% and that last is what I assumed you were refering to.

Not in my ward and stake. More like about 25%

I think all indications point to a rate of resurrection in the highest degree of the CK will be closer to 1% but would not be disappointed if it were more.

The God and Savior I believe in is much more merciful than the one you believe in and gives much more leeway than your rigid authoritarian God.

Hi Mr Bot! Welcome back.

Glad to see nothing has changed in your posting style during your long absence.

Believe it or not I was thinking about you the other day and was wondering where you went.I actually missed you.

Can this really be right? MAD has had less than 900 threads started since January 1st this year, whereas this forum has had:

Terrestrial = 2050
Celestial = 179
Telestial = 110
Non-Mormon forum = 166

2,505 threads started since Jan 1st 2011?

Wow, I always assumed we were still far behind them in activity/traffic. I know we used to be, but it doesn't seem like this forum has really gotten busier over the past few years. Does this mean business at MAD is gradually dying?
