Once one decides to meet scary Satan head on… face-to-face, a whole new world opens up. All the things that once were told were evil and seemed evil can now be tested to see if they are in fact, evil. I was in a casino last weekend and was out for a good time. The drinks are free and they keep them coming, and one doesn’t gamble with what they aren’t willing to lose. Partied hard till 2AM and walked away +$350. If you take away the hundie I lost the night before it comes out to +$250. The point (cause winning stories are far and few), was it was a blast. Spend money on whatever entertainment is worth it… I’m just wondering if any of you newly ex-Mo’s have danced with the devil on a Blackjack table.

Just slot machines. Never made any money but didn't lose much and it was fun. I wouldn't want to live too close, though, because it does feel addictive.

Slot machines suck. They're mechanical (actually all video now) and they pay out somewhere about 30% at most places. I played video poker for an hour when the tables were closed, but it takes a while to lose $20. Slot machines eat money like you're throwing it out the window. BlackJack is different, and there's a lot of new ways to play it. There's now a special betting spot to match suits, but this is just a way to suck money faster. Playing straight BlackJack can take hours to lost $100 and sometimes you win. On my second honeymoon my wife and I went to a Indian reservation and played... she'd never played before. She stopped me and pointed out I was up about $300 and she was up about $400, so we walked away. Granted losing is expected and I don't play that much, but entertainment value is worth money and I expect to lose, so when you win it's sort of a shock.

Satan doesn't exist bc. Keep you fears in check and do what you're told, but since God hasn't proven to you that Satan does exist, does it really make sense to poke you in the ear with a red-hot poker for all eternity for making the wrong choice... based on information you weren't privy to? I guess planet Kolob with Joseph Smith deciding who gets in makes more sense to you. I feel sorry for you... it must suck not to be able to think for yourself.

Some of us are too risk averse to gamble seriously. A little low-stakes blackjack, baccarat betting the house, nickle slots - sure. They still serve free drinks at the nickle slots by the way. Leaving Mo'ism didn't increase my interest in putting $ at risk.

Nickel slots don't pay and it's boring in my opinion. I have a negative vibe about playing a game I'm expected to lose at. Free drinks are part of the entertainment value... it's fun. If $ for entertainment doesn't have value, then dropping $30 to see a movie would wind up in the same bucket.

That's true - it's all a matter of how much entertainment you're buying and how well you control your limit.
