The world is so "evil" these days.
I've been around of Mormons lately and they talk a lot about how the world is so evil these days. I like to tell them I think the world is becoming a better place and were more informed than ever before. Women have more rights than ever before. Rasism still exists but it's better than the past. Democracy is growing all over the world.
When was the world not "evil"?
I heard the sex trade is the oldest profession.
I'm sure coffee has been around for a long time.
History shows that there has always been wars and rumors of wars.
There has always been un faithful marriages.
Lots of world leaders in the past and present have slept around.
So is the world more evil now or is it the same it has ever been or is it better?

well, there are more people on the planet then there probably has ever been right now. So in that sense, there is probably more "evil" things happening right now. Other than that, i don't really see how someone can judge it.

Interesting point Stem. So maybe there is more evil in the world as a whole but there may be more good in the world as well. The evil per capita is probably about the same then.

We have (for the most part) rid the world of slavery, an institution that had existed since ancient times. Unlike the 'not-so-evil' times of Joseph Smith, Moses, and Jesus.

LOL. Man howdy. We drive cars. Spend all day earning the money for stuff. We live in the exoskeletons of steel insulated from one another. We relate in the surreal of internet, TV, Movies, with shocking shallowness. If you never experienced rural life where every man knew his neighbor and all the village pulled together and rejoiced together and worked together you hardly have a clue what humanity is suppose to be about.
We walk down busy sidewalks shrouded in a plastic cage of anxious indifference and cold-heartedness. Religion is a farce of feigned community for the most part. It is almost as if we all remain in our homes and send out a clone of ourselves to relate because our minds an held in virtual reality.
Then we can talk about the real evil. Come on. Better informed and more socially and politically liberal. This is righteousness of the BORG.

Slavery has merely been reinvented as worker/owner employment. Go ahead and quit. Be free. Uh huh? We are more oppressed by the maintenance of our stuff than any slave. Think about it. And this will be getting worse and worse, you shall see it.

Better when we lived in caves and men dragged women around by their hair.

I think my life working for a corporation that pays me well and gives vacations and weekends off is way better than being a slave. Plus if I don't want to work for someone than I can always quit. Slaves did not enjoy this type of freedom. I'll take my life over a slaves life any day. Actually didn't sone slave battle to the death?

This is so laughably ridiculous. Reinvented?!?! What the hell do you think non-slaves did during slave times? All live fat off the labors of slaves? How about we discuss the improvements in conditions for non-slave workers since, say, the industrial revolution. Give me a break with the sacrosanctimonious nonsense.

I probably think things are a bit better than Nightlion does, but I have to say his descriptions are pretty evocative.
From the Ernest L. Wilkinson Diaries: "ELW dreams he's spattered w/ grease. Hundreds steal his greasy pants."
