Hello,

Here's why we bicker @ MDB:

1) Critic posts something thoughtful.

2) Mopologist gets crappy.

3) Critic gets crappy.

4) Shittiness continues & Mopologist claims victim status.

5) [Blatant attack deleted by Mod Scottie]

6) MDDB lurkers claim victim status.

7) People get introspective.

In the face of madness, rationality has no power - Xiao Wang, US historiographer, 2287 AD.

Every record...falsified, every book rewritten...every statue...has been renamed or torn down, every date...altered...the process is continuing...minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Ideology is always right.

Thanks to you as ell.

I do not agree that bickering always has its origins in hurt.

I share your view, which is why I was careful to qualify my statement by saying it is "very common" rather saying it is "always" or "only" the case,

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

That's an interesting perspective. I am glad you shared it with us.

I'm sure that bickering is sometimes caused by hurt feelings and even, at times, psychological dysfunction. That doesn't seem to an adequate explanation for what occurs on this board. I know that, personally, there are so few times my feelings have been hurt on this or any board that I can't even remember any. I suspect that is the case with other posters, as well.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Beastie, yes, Johnny Cash made Hurt a much better song as part of his American Man series near the end of his life, as he did U2's One.

I don't wish to bicker about this, but for the purposes of clarification, I wasn't just referring to "feelings" when I mentioned "hurt." I also had in mind various ways in which people may perceive themselves as having been un-rightly diminished, limited, marginalized, dismissed, unheard, ridiculed, judged, attacked, etc. I had in mind things like what you mentioned in your OP.

Thanks, -Wade Englund-
