Baking, what part of NO is it you do not understand in NO paid clergy?

They are liars. They don't publish the financial reports because they have something to hide as well.

Publication of the financials is a separate issue - and they clearly have an interest in keeping those under wraps. I view that as problematic. However, on the no paid clergy claim, I think that there are much bigger fish to fry.

900 is way too low.

You have to factor in all of the employees that the church hires to do the work which would otherwise be done by a professional local clergy. This is going to include everyone employed by CES, all employees at church HQ, etc.

Oh, I'm assuming that there is no meaningful distinction between a 'stipend' and a salary.

You start with the small stuff and the bigger stuff takes care of itself.

How l-dsince spends donated money is not 'small stuff' when they lie about it and hide where the money goes.

I just went on a Ward Camping Trip..... that was paid for by Tithing.
Thus, if you actually want to know what Tithing is for, that's just one example.
Tithing goes to the operation and spiritual needs of those within the Church, it's people.

Can you prove that? No, the fact is you have no idea where the money goes because the Church doesn't tell you.

Even if you go to 7.5% of U.S. members who tithe, you are still at 2.25 billion annualized.

So that's 900 people not enjoying 2.25 billion being handed over to them. The implied accusations of misuse and waste ring hollow.

I haven't accused the church of either "misuse" or "waste". From the perspective of finances and business, the church is a well oiled and very efficient machine.

I applaud the church's income vs salary/stipend ratios. That is why I believe the LDS church is one of the most profitable religions ever spawned.

Yes President Hinckley states that pay to GAs was out of the for profit money of the Church.

But really it does not matter. Money is fungible. All the assets of the Church initially started by donations from members in the form of tithing or some other form.

Personally it does not bother me that GAs get paid. They should get paid. And if it came out of tithing it does not bother me either. They work hard.

What bothers me is they won't disclose any financial information including what GAs are paid.
