Hello Moderator Scottie,

Sure. Go to the Search feature. Type in "recchione". And you'll see the "offending" posts. Any use of "recchione", if you feel inclined, ought to be removed. Again, I'm not offended by the slur, but I would like to see you moderate evenly, or you could just chill out. Thank you in advance. <- Thank you to Mr. Abestos for pointing that out. Must be my Mountain West upbringing (think "acrosst" rather than "across").

Quinn resigned from BYU in 1988. (I'm not sure that it's accurate to say that he was dismissed, though I think that the University may not have been altogether sad at his resignation and that he would probably have been dismissed sooner or later had he not resigned. But I'm speculating at this point.)

His excommunication came several years later, perhaps in 1992 or thereabouts.

In other words, his excommunication was subsequent to his leaving BYU, not the other way around.

I learned of his homosexuality sometime after his departure from BYU, but, I think, well before his excommunication.

You're changing your story. This is what you originally said:

That's well before the 1988 resignation.

OMG!

We are talking about events that happened over 20 years ago!!!

Give the man the benefit of the doubt. He stated in parentheses (I believe). He obviously went through and recounted the times and dates in his second response.

Even you admit that Dan is not key in having anything to do with Quinn's firing or his excommunication. Can we please drop this red herring once and for all?

I usually just let stuff go, but you're making the same silly error multiple times in a row. The phrase is "Thank you in advance." I don't know why, but the added d just bothers me now that it's like the 3rd time I've seen you do that today.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Moderator Scottie,

Well, as long as you're continually vigilant, and you start cleaning up all the threads I don't have a problem with that!

Good lord, Doc.

I thought I made it clear that I'm not going back in the past to clean up every post that ever existed with an insult.

Why do you think you are above the rules here? I have been deleting personal attacks by other posters as well.

If Yahoo Bot has made an obvious personal attack or insult towards you, please, point me to the offending post and I'll make sure to delete the offenseive material.

I may be Hypersensitive, but I want to clean up this board and rid it of personal attacks.

That's well before the 1988 resignation.

First of all, I'm in awe of your zealous, meticulous study of everything that I've ever said that you feel you might someday be able to use against me. I still don't understand why you do it, but it is, in its weird way, quite impressive.

I don't claim infallible memory, and whenever this conversation happened, it was between roughly twenty and thirty years ago.

But, as I think about it, the encounter with the person in southern California must have come after 1988, because I'm positive that I knew nothing of Quinn's homosexuality during the time that he was teaching at BYU. (It would have been a very surprising thing, and I wouldn't have forgotten it.) I well recall thinking in 1988 that it was really quite sad that Quinn was leaving BYU over historiographical disputes, and I don't recall thinking anything, at the time, about homosexuality being an issue.

I think that I initially placed the conversation between 1982 and 1985 because those were the years I was at UCLA in my doctoral program.

But this is plainly wrong.

I go back to southern California several times each year. It's where I grew up, where my parents lived, and where my brother still lives, and I had the special incentive, during that period, to go down to use the University Research Library at UCLA (BYU's collections on medieval Isma‘ili Shi‘ite philosophical theology, the subject of my dissertation, were, to put it mildly, inadequate for my needs) and to meet with my dissertation advisor. So I'm now quite confident that the conversation in question occurred during a subsequent visit, somewhere between 1988 and 1992, but probably closer to 1988. (That's my sense, but here's a supporting detail: My doctorate was awarded in 1990, and the dissertation was substantially complete in 1989; I spent much less time out on the west side of Los Angeles, where Todd lived at the time and where the dinner was, thereafter.)

Hello Moderator Scottie,

Well, I'd like you to clean it up then. I just pointed out to you that someone is calling someone else a "faggot" on this forum, and perhaps in your righteous indignation you could moderate fairly.

That's all. Thank you in advance.

I couldn't agree more. If anyone calls you (or anyone else) a "faggot" in English or Italian, I'll delete that comment. Please let me know the next time it happens.

Thanks

You're singing to the wrong choir, Liz. Dr. Cam's your man on this one. Take it up with him.

Hello,

Mr. Bob (Moderator Note) Personal attack deleted.Liz Crocket is hands down the most psychotic Internet Mormon I have observed over the years. This says a lot, by the way. He surpasses Mr. Jskains in sheer pathological behavior; this is not an easy thing to accomplish. Couple that with his boorish personality (not to mention copious grammar and spelling errors), reading his "contributions" to any given forum is tedious at best.

That said, he is a Mormon critic's best friend. Mr. Bob (Moderator Note) Personal attack deleted. Liz Crocket represents the fruits of Mormonism: bigotry, hate, psychosis, and insecurity.

Very Respectfully,

Doctor CamNC4Me
