Why is it better to make fun of people than of God?

Didn't he answer this by saying, essentially, that to make fun of God can hurt believers more than making fun of believers themselves? That's the point I got.

Is this how you feel about it? I frequently mock god, sometimes light-heartedly, sometimes not. Does it hurt your feelings?

Not really. I don't necessarily agree with the guy's opinion. I try to empathize with people who don't believe when I see their comments, so that helps I guess.

You know, back in the day, God didn't take any crap from anyone. If you so much as pulled out during sex without his say so, you were stricken dead on the spot. God seems to have mellowed with age. Maybe he's finally developed a sense of humor, too.

Whether the Mormon god has or has not developed a sense of humor waits to be seen. The way the LDS portray him, he's pretty humorless. Laughter and frivolity is, after all, of the devil.

Loud laughter is only for the followers of Satan.

But to put it pointedly, I would care because the God "you" assault is nothing like you see Him. And as a fellow human being, with all the faults you have (and probably more), we wonder why or how you've become so antagonistic. In our more base moments, no, we don't really care. But when we are better than that, we care a great deal about you and we would wish you the same joy we often feel (how often, is another discussion)

I could argue against your claiming to have more faults than I, but writing a list would take most of the morning.

Personally, I don't believe I've ever assaulted God (just in case :) ). I'm assuming when you said "you" you were speaking collectively. I do have some questions about God's existence, though.

Not meaning to belittle your statements, I have felt the same way about sushi. I have a friend that is repulsed by the idea of eating raw fish. I tell him he is missing one of the great joys of life. He is unmovable.

I know that if he could just get passed his temporary revulsion he would be transported to epicurial bliss. I feel sorry for him, but I respect his decision.
