Whatever appears to be against the Book of Mormon is going to be overturned at some time in the future. So we can be pretty open minded.-charity 3/7/07

why me wrote:I do remember one poster making a comment about the stickied thread. And I remember that the poster made a similiar point that the thread needed to be unstuck to allow the board war to simmer down.
I am one of the posters who suggested un-stickying the thread.
But I certainly didn't suggest unstickying it would 'simmer down' the board war.
I'm guessing it's probably made next to no difference on that front...
My objection to it being sticked had nothing to do with it's content. I just saw it as a procedural issue which challenged the notion that Dr. Shades - specifically - doesn't 'affect' the culture of the board.
I think Shades has mentioned starting a poll asking if people want it re-sticked. If that poll goes ahead and most people want it re-sticked, then I have no problem with it going back up. I think that's how it should work...
But I could be wrong.
Talk about an under-statement...!
I don't know if the FAIR / MAD / MD&D board has ever sticked a 'worst of [The Board That Shall Not Be Named]' thread...
But the only reason I ever found out about this board was because (back when I only posted 'over there') this board was discussed and quoted on a very regular basis.
And guess what - the quotes provided from this board were almost always the WORST examples people could find of what people were saying on this board.
There are elements on both sides who will never try to be 'truly representative' of the other side. They will only see the worst in 'the other', and nothing else.
...and that certainly includes you why me. You are probably one of the worst (and most entertaining) offenders on that front.
A thread that happens to be stickied makes very little difference either way - it's not a root cause of anything...

Dear RenegadeOfPhunk,
I had often wondered where you had gone off to. I am very glad you are still around.
I have always respected your point of view.

Hey gramps...!
Mate - thanks. And right back at ya.
I remember having a few great chats with you 'back in the day'.
You were always the voice of cool, laid-back reason! :)
I'm mainly lurking these days - but I try and keep up with what's going on...
Hope things are going well for ya man. Where you livin' these days?

Hey mate! As you can see, I am now sitting in an Utrecht coffeehouse with my lady friend discussing Descartes. ;)
Actually, I will send you a pm and catch up with you.

Dr. Shades wrote:Sorry about the de-sticky, but some people said that it contributed negatively to the culture here.
Some people want you to shut down the board. Some people aren't worth listening to.
Parley P. Pratt wrote:We must lie to support brother Joseph, it is our duty to do so.
B.R. McConkie, © Intellectual Reserve wrote:There are those who say that revealed religion and organic evolution can be harmonized. This is both false and devilish.

You know, Shades, it just dawned on me that the banner/logo doesn't really support the culture you want to have here. It specifically calls names "Liar / Heathen." What if we had a new banner/logo?

I dislike the banner for aesthetic reasons, so I agree that it should be changed.
I do not have a problem with calling someone a liar if the charge is true. Calling someone a liar is sometimes a statement of fact. Dishonesty in a poster affects how this Internet community should consider his or her contributions. Pointing it out is fair game. The same goes for singling out egregious instances of hypocrisy.

Yeah, it's pretty ugly. I volunteer my mad Photoshop Skillz to create a new one.

What you see on the banner right now are the fragments of a previous banner. The quotes are all that is left of it.
The very first banner for MDB,If I recall correctly, had Elvis on it.
