Why are so many Mormon women fat?

Mormons continue to eat like farmers, but not work like farmers.

Isn't it also possible that they simply get family's and then get "busy"? Thus, their priority is for family, gospel, others, etc., rather than self?

Why does everything with anti-mormons have to be some great "evil"?

Further, only like 1/5 of Mormons are overweight.... Most live Mormonism fully, and are active in outdoor and sports activities or are just naturally are lower in size.

whats the point of all this. I see many women in the church I go to who are fat and unfit. I do not blame my church for it. Lets raise the standard of debate here, not focus on silly things

A Stake President once articulated in a meeting that being overweight by choice was contrary to the Word of Wisdom.

Just to be fair there are women I know with ten or more kids that look like they could get a part in Top Model if they had a show only featuring over 40 women.

That said, yes there are a lot of fat Mormons, but there have been studies that have shown that highly religious people tend to have a harder time with obesity than the average person. Why? Often it is due to a culture of food -- Baptists have lots of pot lucks and Mormons too have their share of food-related events ranging from brownies for treats for family home evenings to the dreaded ward dinners.

Other factors?

1) Less vanity. Go to the beaches of California and you see really fit-looking women smoking (even when they are roller blading). They are into their looks and many religious women aren't.

2) Culture of fat. Studies have shown that if you hang with fat people you have a much greater chance of getting fat.

3) Faster aging. No, not in the true physical sense, but I have noticed that Mormons see age differently. I have seen articles in church publications that say 30 is middle age. Also, if you have kids really young then you are going to feel older when they are in high school -- even though you may have friends who are your age with babies. If you feel old then you act old.

4) Sex and thinking of sex increases testosterone and that is associated with weight loss in both men and women. Mormons are told not to think about sex, view porn, or read romance novels. This may lead to lower testosterone than the average person and therefore more weight problems. Then as they expand they feel bad about being fat and want sex even less.

They don't get enough sex. Simple! And they are probably carrying post pregnancy fat for about 5 children.

But really, I don't think Mormon women are any fatter than non Mormon women.
