The Most Beautiful Places You Have Seen

Post by _gramps »

Please share pictures that you (or someone you were with) took of a beautiful part of the earth that maybe some of the rest of us have yet to see.

I will go first and share a few with you.

First, an evening on the beach from the window of our hut in Zanzibar:

Next, Saddhus in Kathmandu, and typical carvings on the Kathmandu temples (Look closely!)

Finally, my favorite Buddha. You can find him in north Thailand (Chang Rai).

More.

Southern Utah, just outside of Cedar City in one of the National Parks. I can't remember the name off the top of my head.

From our cabin window, east of Oakley, Utah, looking east. Thousand Peaks Ranch and the Smith and Morehouse are straight ahead. The Weber River is below. And the second is looking west from the window of the cabin. Mt. Timpanogos is in the background, if the clouds weren't in the way. The Weber River below. I grew up here every summer as a kid.

And, finally, Annapurna, I think the fifth highest in the Nepalese Himalayas. The Jimi Hendrix trail. Apparently, he traveled this same route. Perhaps, he was going all the way to Mustang? I'm not sure. Does anyone know? It is also known today as the Apple Pie trail. There is good food all the way up, and places to stay every night. A guide is NOT necessary.

But, don't go alone. You may have read in the news recently of the Japanese woman who had been lost for 16 days before she was finally found. She went off alone.

The worst that can happen, I guess, is that the communist sympathizers may stop you for some money while you are hiking.

This picture was taken at Tatopani, where all the hot springs are located. Quite a few travelers, but a real fun time. Lots of beer. Lots of charas. Elevation - around 1200m.

Dude,

Those are beautiful! I can't believe I've never been there. Can you take tents, camp? How's the fishing?

I did get to see Mt. St. Helens in 1995-6, after the eruption, of course. That was simply incredible to witness such destruction.

I have also been on the Peninsula,

and in the rain forest. I didn't mean to create the psychedelic effect. But the picture is still kind of cool, I think.

Hello,

When I was 17 I climbed to the summit of Mount Raineer with some other Young Men (and the two adult leaders). It's one of the most vivid and enduring memories of my life.

This is one of the things I love about Mormonism... The active involvement of adults with Young Adults doing high adventure stuff. It was a very transformational period for me and I can see how the lessons of perseverance and adventurism has influenced my life. I'm grateful for those men and the time & energy they put into their callings.

Theres amazing camping all over in the park. Good fishing and hunting if your into that too. Its a deceptively large area. In fact one of my fave things about camping in there is that you could be 20 feet from the next campsite and barely know they exist the foliage is so thick. Its one of those places i think everyone should at least visit once in their life. Absolutely beautiful.

Thanks gramps! On the central coast. Just North of San Simeon and just South of Piedras Blancas Light house.
