Since the original post was deleted (probably along with thousands of other goodies when MAD became MDD) here is my favorite quote of all time, continuing to remain in my signature after four years:
charity wrote:We start with the knowledge that the Book of Mormon is ancient scripture translated by Joseph Smith by the power of God. Exactly how the scripture originated (what was reformed Egyptian, where did Nephi live, how did Moroni get the plates to New York state) does not matter.
We find it interesting to consider those questions, but it doesn't matter. And we have fun with various theories that are proposed, with various scholarly studies that give information and suggestions about evidences.
Since we have sure knowledge via the Spirit, if someone produces some little bit that goes against what we know, we can let it roll of our backs like water off a duck. It doesn't phase us. We can be patient. Whatever appears to be against the Book of Mormon is going to be overturned at some time in the future. So we can be pretty open minded

MASH quotes I peeked in the back [of the Bible] Frank, the Devil did it. I avoid church religiously. This isn't one of my sermons, I expect you to listen.
Just another day at the office for Minos, the Moderator.
Minos wrote:We are seeing too much flaming. Just today I have thread banned five posters and suspended one. Calling posters trolls, fulfilling Godwin's Law or ragging on a poster instead of contributing to the topic are going to result in thread bans. I am seeing the same posters go from thread to thread with the same bad attitude. Those that have been warned are going to get suspended the next time and then board banned if it doesn't stop and it doesn't matter what side of the argument anyone is on.
Let's make this board a pleasant place to be.
"I'm on paid sabbatical from BYU in exchange for my promise to use this time to finish two books."
Bookofmormontruth actually expecting a response from a Moderator on why he was suspended (also, notice that "Nemesis is a little busy with the other website").
bookofmormontruth wrote:At the risk of being banned from this thread, the reason I am specifically asking is that my private messages have gone unanswered - I understand Nemesis is a little busy with the other website so I understand that, but in the messages, I stated that I understood why I was suspended for my Rob Bowman topic poll, but asked what were the reasons for being banned for comments that I have made? I received no responses so I am still confused what the reasoning was?

That bookofmormontruth guy is one of the more obnoxious defenders. He probably embarrasses the intelligent ones.

Yeah, that sure is interesting. What other Web site might they be talking about? The FAIR Wiki? Mormon Scholars Testify? blacklds.org?
"[I]f, while hoping that everybody else will be honest and so forth, I can personally prosper through unethical and immoral acts without being detected and without risk, why should I not?." --Daniel Peterson, 6/4/14

Very likely this one, of course.
Certainly not "Mormon Scholars Testify."
The only people involved in running "Mormon Scholars Testify" are yours truly and the woman back east who volunteered to handle computer matters for it.

There's little doubt in my mind that Dr. Peterson is correct. Bookofmormontruth means that Nemesis is busy with this site.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"
And if you care to make an argument about us being Illegal, and the Indian's having the right to kick us off the Continent, that's fine, but it makes the point that the Indian's also had lousy immigration policy, and look what it got them.
All gay people exist because their parents chose to not be gay. It is an ironic position.
Gays (not all of course) seek to pull others into their life style, and to normalize their life style, and yet if everyone became like them the human race would die out.
If Gays care about the future of humanity, they must have a certain amount of sympathy for heterosexual people.
I think that "certain amount" includes accepting that heterosexual marriage unions are not the same as homosexual unions. They need to give it up.
Richard
Not sure which one to comment on, but let's just say if everyone in the world chose to be a janitor, the human race would also die out. Ban janitor marriage?
This is a quote from BYU football recruiting coach Joe DuPaix in the Salt Lake Tribune that seemed charming:
“Trust me, there are plenty of kids out there that are looking to play football with a group of guys that will live the honor code and that have high academic standards. We are just striving to find those kids.”
