You might be able to get one cheap as soon as they are done with production of "The Hobbit".

I looked up Battle Mountain. At least it would have an interesting history. You must have spent time there. Any stories?

That's surprising.

I'm going to say that my location is choice is across the street from Scratch.

I haven't seen any good photos of Kolob. Post 'em if you have them :).

Scratch probably lives in a nice neighborhood. Still, you may be setting your sights too low.

If you had independent means. No need to worry about a job or income. Where in the world would you choose to live? Be specific if you can and tell why you would think this the best place.

I think about this sometimes when dreaming about winning he lottery.

You don't know how many times I've reflected on this myself, Quasi, and my answer is always the same and my entire family knows it. I would take my pile of money, buy a nice cottage to remodel and live on the right side of the street that you see in this photo:

I don't know if anyone here has ever seen the movie Jersey Girl with Ben Affleck, but if you did, you might remember a night scene where he is grieving and the water reflects in the back ground. That above picture is exactly what is behind him in that scene.

If you are sitting on that hill and on the right side of the street, this is what you are looking at:

And if you follow that road down to the peninsula you see, it would put you here:

That is my favorite spot on planet earth and I would be happy to take my last breath while looking at this:

That is not my home town, but if I could lift up my whole family and take them with me, that is where my heart would be most content to be and where my ashes will be scattered after I die.

Looking for these photos made me entirely home sick. Thanks a lot, Quasi. Just thanks a lot.

I loved staying with friends in Hawaii--I especially loved snorkeling, but I also had fun trying to surf. I am also fascinated by lava. However, I'm not sure that's my ideal spot. I love being able to drive somewhere for skiing--both downhill and cross-country. I like some cities in Holland--like Delft and a few villages in Zeeland--but they have no mountains. I enjoy the Pacific Northwest--maybe Oregon or Northern California has what I'm looking for. Seattle doesn't have much for snorkeling or surfing, but Rainier and the Cascades are beautiful.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy.

Sandy Hook! You didn't mention the name so I looked up Bahrs and found it (the menu looks great... I love seafood). I've been around Jersey a little, but I've never been to Sandy Hook.

It looks beautiful! I don't know why, but New Jersey seems to get some unwarranted bad press (even before the Sopranos). I have a good friend that came from Paterson. He lives in Colorado now, but still misses New Jersey.

I'm happy that I brought back good memories for you. Do you no longer live in New Jersey?

I love the Northwest, too. The forests are beautiful and I don't mind a little rain. It's defiantly on my list. I have relatives in Vancouver, BC and that's a lovely city.

I'm originally from the North of England (just across the channel from Holland). It's peaceful and quaint. I don't think I would like to live there again, though.
