Those AOL Folders is what prompted FAIR's humble origins.

I think that ARM has to be factored into those origins, as well.

I would say that the aol folders were the ancient origins of RFM, because of Eric's involvement. However, I don't believe Eric was ever involved with ARM, so can't credit ARM with RFM.

Welcome to the board deafdumbdone. Can we call you D3 or D-cube?

John really nailed it when he said how "exhilarating" it is to first discover an online community of exmormons. That was really true for me with the early email group. We were really connected to one another. It's also where I met my life-partner.

After listening to this podcast I'm interested in starting a list to organize the boards a bit with start date and various incarnations:

Mormon Discussions Board (Oct 2006) (earlier incarnation?)
FAIR (Nov 2003 at min.) ~> MAD (late 2006) ~> MDD (spring 2011)
Recovery from Mormonism (November 1995)
Zion Lighthouse Message Board (late 2000)
Exmormon Forums (exmormonforums.com) (early 2008)
FLAK (thefoyer.org) (August 2006) (earlier incarnation?)
New Order Mormon (Nov 2007) (earlier incarnation?)
Post Mormon (late 2006)

That's all I got for now. I think you can trace the heyday of ZLMB from about late 2000-2003 and then the beginning of the jump to FAIR/MAD/MDD in late 2003 with a lot of the switch happening in 2004. ZLMB didn't end immediately but seemed to have petered off around 2005-6. At that point the archives really slow down.

Zion Lighthouse Message Board - started in September 2000
UTLM - July 2000 - June 2001

They edited out the part where Froggie went on to say what she really thought. :D

Well, if she comes here, it won't be edited out. ;P

I agree. I want a unique one about MDB (or perhaps one about MAD/MDB rivalry).
