So, I realize that I have been lurking on these boards forever, rarely posting. From questioning, to NOM to disaffected, most of the boards mentioned have been my companions... believing and not. I come here regularly though I haven't been to church for years. Cheesy I know, but thanks to all of you. Perhaps I will post more often. Nice podcast... I think the original LDSman from NOM should have been mentioned. Didn't he pass away several years ago? As per his advise, I took it slowly, and it worked for me, at least when I slipped out the back door, my family came with me.

Nice podcast, John. Well done.

Listened to the whole thing and enjoyed it. Hearing the history of the whole Thomas Murphy fiasco on the Zion's Lighthouse board allows one better insight into the world of LDS discussion boards and it helps bring up the oft forgotten subject of logistics: One simply cannot crawl through the mud, unless time has been spent first creating the mud.

Finally listened last night. It was a fascinating discussion and one that needs followup. I know that can sound quasi-narcissistic, but as Froggie said, the evolution of boards and the creation of a kind of "group personality" would make for great sociological analysis. Just the history of the several bigger boards that was sketched out on the podcast provides material for reflection.

It was also great to hear the voices of two friends of mine, Froggie and Nom de Cypher, who I don't see anywhere near enough of in real life. And maybe even better was to hear for the first time the dulcet tones of NannaP---it's so strange/wonderful to hear the actual voice of someone you've been talking to for years!

Thanks, *blushing.*

I hope you start posting. It will encourage me to try to post more substantially (I know, I know, I've been promising threads for 6 months now, but, I can't seem to get disciplined this summer. I WILL get back to those of you I've promised emails and pm's!).

Agreed. That was the first thing I thought about, and... "man, Nanna's got a great voice."

I love that she mentioned my epic "F*ck" thread, but I don't think she did it justice. It's almost six years old, up to something like 430 pages/6500 posts, and still lives on the first page. It's like... my DAMU claim to fame (not that that board is really an LDS board as much as it is a board where some thick-skinned ex-LDS go to hang out).

(And I can't really take much credit for the thread... it is, after all, named after the most versatile word in the English language, and it's taken a community to keep it going).
