Should zeezrom become a moderator?
Re: Should zeezrom become a moderator?
We have access to IP addresses, but the IP access we have is limited. It cannot give us a pinpointed location of the poster.
The IP address locater software that is built into the PhBB system that we use is associated with "Who Is". The "Who Is" software feature can only pinpoint the person's IP address that is assigned to them by their IP provider. What we have access to is who that person's IP provider is.
The physical address that is provided to us is the IP provider's address, not the individuals'.
It is not an exact science. My IP provider, for instance, is located in VA, but I live in NC.

Don't underestimate the power of the LDS church's I.T. department. Let me round up the documentation which I have and I will PM it to you.

If they're so IT sophisticated they don't need to become a mod here to find out who you are. I'd be interested, though, to see your documentation posted here.

I can obtain your IP address without hacking, and without becoming a mod. I have not done this and don't plan to, but I could. If the church I.T. is powerful, they could have already done this.

No thanks. I don't think I spend enough time here to make a meaningful contribution. Thanks for the offer though.

Understand, also, that Administrator rights are much different than Moderator rights.
As Moderators, we do not have the type of security and programming access to things that Shades, Keene, and Negative have access to.

I think you should have an actual TBM as one of the moderators. A TBM accepts agency and personal responsibility and therefore would be among the most even handed of all.

Don't we have one here? She does a pretty good job.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

She does. But she seems to accept some antiMormon criticisms that put her out of the realm of TBMness imho. So if you want representation, pick a TBM. Ultimately it does not matter who it is as long as they moderate as wanted. Just because someone is diametrically opposed to another's opinion doesn't mean they wouldn't make a good moderator.
I merely point out that a TBM has a background of being "even handed". For example, I (not necessarily putting myself forward as a mod) have been fairly outspoken on this and the MDD board (the "enemy" of this board) in support of this board's methodology and venue despite the fact that antiMormons are the majority posters here.
