Don't forget that the belief is that dead people are resurrected to a "perfect state", say, in their prime. This might change things a bit for you, no? Let's say for example, that the spirit of Paul Newman joins you. Would that be creepy? What about Elizabeth Taylor?

Also, do Mormons believe that God is omnipresent? That would put God in every bedroom, invited or not.

Yes, they do believe this. I taught this as a missionary. Unfortunately, I think it is incorrect per the teachings and revelations of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.

The guy who sealed my wife and I told us we should open "all intimacy" with a prayer....One of the few parts of the ceremony that i actually remember as I almost LOL'd. He also said we should have our first "family home evening" on our honeymoon (Monday night would have been the first night or our honeymoon)...It cracks me up that internet defenders seem to be the only people that have never heard these type of crazy things...

As I said, I know way too many people who have this stunted idea of sex as being either completely utilitarian or sacramental. But an opening prayer? That's a new one to me.

I should clarify.

I have been counselled to pray for help regarding sex and I have tried this. The actual prayer has occurred at different times. Sometimes just before the act and other times not just before.

I wouldn't call it an opening prayer for sex but rather a prayer to help us with intimacy, in general.

I had a talk (or book?) on tape from Deseret Bookstore that talks about the womans wonderful husband who set an example for her on their wedding night by having them kneel together in prayer before consumating the marriage.

So, yeah, I had heard that before I got married. I cannot recall if I specifically heard it other times from church. But you can find these ideas at DB for sure.

The spirit of Elizabeth Taylor (in her prime, certainly one of the most beautiful women ever) would always be a welcomed addition to my bed. My wife might not agree.

You would need to ask my wife about Paul Newman ( I understand, through my few contacts in the movie industry, that he went both ways). Not appealing to me personally, but I'm a little old fashioned in that way.
