During that era, I distinctly remember several lessons where we were specifically told that newly married couples should not have relations until they had started their evening with prayer....that sex was a pure act of love, and that God had a hand in every loving act, especially since that union could bring about spirit children.

Hello,

I remember various times being counseled to pray together before you have sex. Sex was elevated to a spiritual act and that it was something couples ought to do in order to bring them closer to each other and to God. I'm not sure why some here are saying that prayer before sex is unknown to them. Weird. Guess I attended a different Mormon church than the one they're attending.

I would think so. I also can't comprehend the shame or embarrassment ending with the presence of the children. Mother is totally baffled.
