How do you explain his suicide note, which clearly demonstrated he had no idea what happened to Caylee?

lies to protect himself. He had position in the community, among people who would condemn him for what he may have done.

Why was he trying to protect himself when he was committing suicide?

Normally deathbed statements are accepted as true.

I feel bad for what awaits Casey, but hopefully the trauma of being in jail for the past three years will have a positive effect on how she chooses to live her life in the future.

The "revenge host," really is a good name for Nancy Grace. Admittedly, I myself have been prone to being a very vengeful person. In my view the greatest good for Caylee and every other victim would be to see the perpetrators repent, mend their ways, and become the kind of people who one would not shrink at the thought of living in the same world as they do. Evening the score isn't always what's best for the victims. To say our efforts at achieving justice as human beings are inadequate is a prodigious understatment. Nothing we do can fix this mess. Nothing will bring Caylee back. But we can find peace in knowing that Jesus Christ can and will accomplish these things. He really can do far better for us as victims than even the score. The ultimate and true justice for Caylee is simply not to be had in this world. Remember LDS believe that Caylee is now in the Celestial kingdom. I think Caylee was compensated a long time ago and hasn't been enduring any of the ugliness going on for the past three years.

Losing the hope of eventual justice is one of the most difficult challenges for an atheist like me, along with losing the hope of being reunited with dead loved ones. The promise of eventual, perfect justice is one of the greatest allures of religion, in my opinion, along with that promised reunion with loved ones.

The fact that this world has imperfect justice is hard to accept. One of the reason I love the US, despite our serious flaws, is that we at least strive to attain blind justice. Throughout the history of the world, and even today’s world, that is not the case in most societies. It is simply a case of the powerful abusing the powerless.

While Caylee’s death is horrific, the fact is that, in the larger scheme of this world, it is a small drop in an ocean. Many children die every day, usually at the hands of family members. Even more so, children and adults die every day due to the either overt violence or horrific neglect and abuse at the hands of their country’s leaders. And I have no hope that any of these people, be it Casey Anthony or a monster like Hitler, will, one day, stand before their maker and not be able to escape perfect justice.

One of the most tragic facts of life is that charming and attractive sociopaths often get away with a lifetime of abusive, if not criminal, behavior. I may sound jaded, but I think if Casey Anthony were fat and ugly, she would be sitting on death row today. And I’m not saying this out of jealousy or bitterness. I’m not fat or ugly, myself, and neither are my children. We’re all fairly attractive people, but that doesn’t stop me from recognizing that simply being attractive, in this world, has huge benefits.

I apply Occam’s Razor to this situation, and find it very unlikely that anyone other than Casey was involved in her daughter’s death.

The scenario constructed by the defense, which apparently convinced the jurors, is extraordinarily unlikely to me. This scenario requires that TWO people, both George and Casey, thought that the appropriate way to handle Caylee’s accidental drowning was to throw her body away like trash, with duct tape around her mouth, and then pretend that they had no idea what happened to her. This scenario requires that George, despite being involved in this cover-up, actually pushed Casey to talk to the police, and pushed her to tell him what happened. It requires that he wrote lies in his suicide note.

How much more likely is it that ONE person was involved in Caylee’s death? How much more likely is it that ONE person thought that throwing Caylee’s body away like trash was an acceptable idea? How much more likely is it that ONE person then thought that pretending nothing happened was an acceptable alternative?

You can always find one person willing and able to engage in horrific behavior, and extreme self-delusions. But adding another person to the mix usually makes it more complicated and difficult.

I’m not saying this scenario is IMPOSSIBLE – I am saying it is very unlikely.

The only way I can conceive of an accidental death is if Casey, and she apparently was wont to do, snuck back into the family home and piddled around on the computer or slept or something while completely ignoring what Caylee was doing. Caylee then drowned in the pool, since Casey was ignoring her. Then Casey, as she was wont to do, engaged in avoidance behavior to avoid having to face her family’s ire and possible legal consequences. So she wrapped her up, duct taped her mouth to prevent leakage, and dumped her in the swamp. Then, of course, once her body is found, she constructs a lie, which she is wont to do, in order to blame someone else for what SHE
did herself.

That is the only way I can conceive of this death being an accident, and of course it would constitute manslaughter. The fact that the jury rejected even child abuse and manslaughter means that they think Casey was uninvolved in her child’s death.

I find that as believable as the flying spaghetti monster.

Whether or not one believes Casey killed her daughter, I think the evidence is undeniable she is a sociopath. She constructs complicated lies and "lives" those lies for literally YEARS. She steals from friends and family. She manipulates and feels entitled. She is a sociopath.

And that, of course, adds a whole other layer to Occam's Razor.

Possibly. However, there simply wasn't enough evidence to convict.

Why wasn't there enough evidence to convict of manslaughter or child abuse?

LOL. We don't know what happened in the jury room. I agree that she got off too lightly.

The promise of eventual, perfect justice is one of the greatest allures of religion, in my opinion

You don't really need religion to believe in spiritual things like this. I've been reading a lot of NDE books and for me they're bringing a lot of peace. Not one NDE that I know of came back and said he now knew he had to join the Mormon Church. Arvin Gibson explains this as protecting agency. I don't know a lot of things, but reaffirming my belief that we truly are spiritual beings having a human experience has been very helpful for me.

My aunt just died last week. Her diabetes had taken its toll on her. She's not LDS. She almost died once before that a few months ago. When she came back she said she would never be scared of dying again. She knew she was headed for a better place.

I'm not saying we shouldn't seek justice. We try. But as was shown with this case, we just couldn't do it. The fact that there was not a conviction for manslaughter or child abuse demonstrates to me that justice must not be met very often.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

I think that if the above scenario falls anywhere close to the truth, that the motive would be (as I stated very early on in this thread turned blog) to avoid the wrath of Cindy Anthony.

Had Cindy Anthony learned that Caylee drown in the family pool either on Casey's watch OR Casey and George's watch, Cindy Anthony would've crucified both of them.

There was unrest between George and Cindy. They had been separated more than once, had financial struggles due to George's bonehead business dealings, and from what I can tell, Cindy was the consistently working glue that held the family's finances together.

There was unrest between Casey and Cindy. It was reported that there was a hellacious argument between the two just prior to Caylee's death. It was also reported that Cindy harshly criticized Casey, telling her she was a bad mother and that she would take Caylee away from her.

Those are the same exact words Casey claimed were stated by the non-existent Zanny when "she" took Caylee from Casey by force. Casey incorporated Cindy's own words into her account of Zanny.

If Cindy can go eyeball to eyeball, face to face, toe to toe, with the police, public mobs, and eventually, a prosecuting attorney in a capital murder case and stand her ground...I think she had it in her to nail both George and Casey to the wall in the event of an accidental drowning.

If you watched Cindy's testimony, you can see that the woman has the wherewithal to lie under oath when questioned by attorney's. No amount of pressure on the part of Linda Drane Burdick was going to make Cindy "crack". Cindy simply doesn't crack.

I am not entirely sure that Casey is a sociopath, but I am 99% certain that her method of lying was a learned behavior. The whole entire family (with the possible exception of Lee) lies their asses off when it suits them.

beastie, if you believe the testimony of River Crews/Krystal Holloway regarding her having an affair with George, do you also accept her testimony that George stated "it was an accident that snowballed out of control"? If not, how do you separate the two as one truth/one lie?
