Wouldn't it be nice

Post by _Buffalo »

If the church treated sexual abuse and child abuse more harshly than it did dissent?

Just dreaming out loud. Have a nice weekend!

Church Leaders ("The Brethren") classify all rank-and-file Members into two categories....

1) The Faithful

2) Dissidents

If a "Faithful" screws his own daughters, but he is neverhteless "faithful" (blindly obedient) to Church leaders, he is a "friend" and is treated with kid gloves. He is a "good man" and the Church bends over backwards to assist/help/cover-up and invite him back into full fellowship (actually....men who screw their own daughters, if they are "Faithful" are never shunned even if they are execommunicated...they are always loved and fellowshipped).

If he is a "Dissident" (i.e. anyone at all critical of Church leaders) he is a "foe" to be punished, ridiculed, and cast-out at the first opportunity; no matter if he does the deeds of Ghandi and Mother Teresa combined. He is "evil" and the Church wants to rid themselves of him/her.

It ALL has to do with "IF" The Brethren think you respect them or not. If you do, you can DO NO WRONG! If you don't, you can DO NO RIGHT.

Maybe the abusers are harder to detect than dissenters. Or, maybe dissenters are more willing to go public than abusers.

You have a nice weekend too!
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)
