I would like to see the gun used by the Prophet in the final shootout. No one could challenge the authenticity of that firearm. Let's hope Elder Cook will use that for show in an upcoming talk.

I wonder if these men ever go through this thought process:
"I'm not sure if I have the facts right. Should I have my editors do some research so we can be certain? Well, I'm outta time. Oh well. The story is really good."

Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)

I am pretty confident that Holland believed that the book he was holding up was the one Hyrum marked personally.

It is obvious he did not pray about it or the Holy Ghost would have revealed the truth of it to him since the spook reveals the truth of all things.
Why would one of the anointed start a talk without praying about what is said???

What an interesting statement to make, Joseph.
The only way that it could be obvious to you that he didn't pray about it, is for him to not have actually held up the original book that Hyrum read from (that is, for you to believe that he wasn't making an accurate statement). Now, I would like to see you try to justify that point of view - i.e. that the book donated in 2007 is much more likely to be the original than the one that Holland held up in conference. I would guess that only after you have completed that proof could you claim with the certainty that you do, that its obvious that Holland didn't pray about it - because for all that I can tell, the one he held up was the original.

Does the copy of the Book of Mormon that Hyrum actually read from have some talismanic or other intrinsic value or power for the possessor?
Did hearing Elder Holland speak while holding it and proclaiming it to be that very copy of the Book of Mormon cause your bosom to burn?
What purpose was there in Elder Holland using such an old prop during his General Conference talk? Were listeners to be in more awe of Elder Holland's words?
