You need to ask yourself that question since you ridicule the LDS faith and hate Mormons.

I should explain the circumstances. It was my dad who asked me the question about murdering Joseph. I think he was speaking in anger and was at a total loss of what to say at the time. Things have calmed down a lot in the past year. He was so very shocked that his own son had lost faith in and lost any respect for Joseph Smith. In his shock, those words just came out.

Later (around last October), he asked what I think of Joseph Smith. I should have said nothing. Instead, I told him the things Joseph did disgust me. It's how I feel and I guess I had to be upfront. He replied with, "so you hate him." I think this was some sort of validation for his sense of persecution.

I wish it could all be erased. I wish Joseph Smith wasn't born and my parents were Catholic or something. Oh well.

Your dad posed a good question. I know that if the time was turned back some on this forum would be with the mobs stirring up the anger against the Mormons. No question about it. I don't think that you would be one of them though. However, zee I have this sneaky feeling that you look for trouble and then post the trouble on this board to gain sympathy. Of course, this is just my reflection but it seems that you are egging people on in your family and outside your family.

I feel sorry for your father. He must be shell shocked with your about face. It is only natural for a parent to react the way your father is reacting to your new belief system. It will take time for him to get use to it. Maybe you can show mercy on your family and be silent for a while.

Oh come on zee. You would certainly find negatives in catholic history too. Some of the popes were real winners. Not to mention the religious wars that engulfed europe for centuries. Protestant and catholics killing each other and harmless civilians too. No faith is perfect zee. What about the inquisition? Innocent men and women tortured. No zee, if you found out something about the catholic faith that was negative and you didn't know about it, you would still be in the same boat.

You really are a braying ass, whyme. You display the same amount of arrogant judgmentalism no matter what the topic: you seem to lack the ability to distinguish between the serious and the trivial, the heartfelt and the cynical.

Most parents do not react to their children's natural growth and progression with accusations that they harbor murder in their hearts. I don't even think you truly believe this, I think you just pop off with whatever smug put-down crosses your mind.

You ask zeez to show some mercy? That's a laugh. Why don't you start practicing what you preach? When's the last time you extended any mercy or charity to anyone?

I've been thinking about the question from my dad today. I think he really didn't think I could or would help kill Joseph Smith but rather wanted to use the question as a scare tactic. It was an attempted wake up call. This was around the time he and a bishop were discussing the possibility of a threat to strip me of my TR (though it was about to expire anyway, LOL). They felt it would wake me up and grab my attention. It would be the same tactic Nephi used against his unruly brothers on the beach of Central America (or wherever the hell they landed after crossing the Great Waters).

Even better if you can sell Franklin Mint 18k gold-plated plates afterward to commemorate the righteousness.

Maybe you can show mercy on the entire planet and be silent forever.

:(

I apologize to all (why me included) for this out of character and unkind post/suggestion. Perhaps it is just a result/reaction of how I perceive many of the things I read on this board that are, in my opinion, completely exhausting.

(I am also aware that I own the posts I make and that I should at least consider taking my own advice to remain silent)

Peace,

So the US is wrong in getting bed with the reds in Peking?

In seminary our instructor told us communism was Satans counterfit of The United Order. That the UO was 'perfect communism'.

As for 'killing joethecoxman' and being part of the crowd. Ancestors have recorded some interesting information on that as well as one in particular who was the 'nits make lice' killer at Haun's Mill.

They certainly did not like Mormon murderers and thieves.

Once again - how many arrest was joethecoxman running from when he was killed in the shootout?

It probably wouldn't help to point out the lack of verifiable priesthood authority, would it, z?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
