You guys are bound and determined to get this site shut down, aren't you? Being led by the nose by blemnuts in his back door attack on the site you are supporting his agenda of illegal use so the legal copyright owners will find out and get this place closed for good."
Being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction -Pope Benedict XVI
So I see Barney Fife has succeeded in bullying his way into having this an image-free site.
If Shades feels that is what he has to do, then so be it.
Even with the current state of no images, I think it is even MORE important to ban Joseph. Barney Fife cannot be allowed to enjoy the fruits of his bullying.
So here's what I suggest:
1. Keep the no images until Shades can figure out how to resolve this issue. 2. Investigate what constitutes frivolous copyright complaints. If feasible, make it known that any Barney Fifes of the future who choose to make frivolous claims will be prosecuted and risk serious fines. 3. Change the board software so only registered posters can see images OR read posts. 4. BAN JOSEPH. 5. Block Joseph's IP address and immediately ban and block any sock-puppet who pops up and starts smelling like Barney Fife. 6. The image issue can be revisited later after options have been explored, but Barney Fife and any of his sock puppets will not be around to participate or witness any decisions that are made.
I find the idea of Barney Fife/Deputy Dan/Joseph being around to enjoy the fruits of his bullying repulsive, even with so many of us having him on ignore. We must stop feeding him.
by the way, are any exmormon internet boards Joseph-Free, or has he infected all of them?
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.
Hotlinking images webhosted on other forums to make points is not a copyright violation, even under the overly broad DCMA. It is fair use. Thousands of forums, including plenty much bigger and much more influential than this one, allow posting of images just the same as here because of this fact. You don't think someone would've succeeded in hitting 4chan if this wasn't the case? They have over 9000 enemies. I understand Shades not wanting to engage a frivolous lawsuit, but hopefully there are enough human resources behind him that the person posting under the name Joseph can be hit back hard if he wants to make dubious DCMA claims.

If you make it so someone has to be a registered user to read posts here, you will cut off the new blood of the forum by removing random lurkers. This over time will depress activity.
And I'm not even going to tell you where it is - even though it is full of lovely yummy pictures culled from all over the internet (none R-rated by the way).
