It ain't easy being a Mormon
I'm having a moment of sympathy for my dear family and friends. They have so much to defend! Not just church policy and doctrine and history, which could keep them busy all day, they also must defend Fox News, Sarah Palin, Dr. Laura, George W., Glen Beck ... it never ends.
Aside from "follow the prophet" type of brainwashing, I believe that members do most of the brainwashing on themselves. I can kind of remember doing it myself. Something about the church encourages people to tie up their entire identies in Mormonism, to where the least criticism of the religion feels like a personal attack, and by extension a criticism of Fox News feels like a personal attack ...
On this Holy Day of the Lord, let us take a moment to reflect on our dear brothers and sisters and the grim realities they face in defending the indefensible.

Hello,
I'm sorry, but how is Joe Biden, the DNC, Harry Reid, and frankly President Obama any different than any of the GOP idiots? I feel sorry for you that you're so blind that you think leaving Mormonism makes you somehow "enlightened". It doesn't. You're just trading one version of extremism for another.
Very Respectfully,

Really? Don't you tire of being a stereotypical liberal?

If you can imagine Glenn Beck questioning a teenage boy or girl about their life including if they were sexually active you can empathize what Mormon teenagers go through.

I may be partial to the idiots on the left end of the spectrum, but you see, the point I was trying to make in my post (unsuccessfully, it seems) is the personal identification Mormons feel not only with the religion, per se, but also anyone who appears to support Mormon ideals.
It's the fact that Mormons feel the compulsion to defend that I'm sympathizing with; it has little to do with who they defend.

Newsflash: Harry Reid is LDS.
Newsflash: Your stereotype of LDS people is completely uninformed and downright wrong.

I didn't say anything about Harry Reid.
I am not referring to any stereotype. My post was inspired by a real-life email sent from the i-phone of a Mormon relative, sitting on the stand in church, in defense of Fox News. It made me sad. He had shown no interest or participation in family doings for weeks until somebody (not me) slammed Fox News.

Harry Reid is a democrat. There goes your stereotype of all Mormons being right-wing conservatives.

Wow, one example and you condemn all Mormons?
What the hell?

Darling, I wasn't condemning all Mormons. I was expressing sympathy. You are now trying my sympathy past it's limits.

Re: It ain't easy being a Mormon
Your "sympathy" is really a blanket condescending statement.
