I miss Blixa and Stak's competing pix. They were really funny. Lasers shooting out of a kitten's eyes... what more could you ask for?

(Ok, my memory may have misled me on the kitty laser-eyes, but there were lasers from someone's eyes, for sure. My memory has improved it to kitties. I'm kinda Mormon in that way. ;)

Agreed. Blixa and Stax's gif wars were awesome.

Good point.

I finally get around to articulating my position here.

Posting your own work or work you have permission to post causes no problems at all.

Why was it so difficult for some to understand that?

As for posting copyright photos, check this site - and my short quote from it applies here.

http://webnet77.com/webstuff/copyright.html

Most fair use situations involve text. It is difficult to imagine any situation involving the Internet where someone copying a photo could claim the fair use defense. In typical infringement activities, such as unauthorized posting to Usenet, stocking websites from Usenet trolling, scanning from Playboy magazine, or simply copying from other websites-the fair use doctrine does not apply. Because the pirate is taking 100% of the work, not acknowledging the creator, hurting the work's market value, competing directly with the creator or licensed users of the work, and for other reasons.

So if you are a photo pirate, do not even think about the fair use doctrine. In your context it is a myth. Your lawyer will laugh at you, and the judge might not have a sense of humor where thievery is concerned.

Which means I can't post photos, say, from the 1971 movie Jesus Christ Superstar, unless I get explicit permission from the producers of that movie, such as Andrew Lloyd Webber? I'm going to have to write or email Andrew Lloyd Webber to ask him if I can post a photo of Jesus Christ Superstar here on Mormon Discussions?

You are totally out of your mind. A misguided fanatic.

That is exactly what it means boy - unless your postings fall under the 'fair use' exceptions.

Even for a dummy that should be clear.

so cammie, maybe for your next trick you will do a short video of you holding your breath until you turn blue and pass out? Make sure it is 'work for hire', your own video or you have permission from the copyright owner to post it.... and all will be fine.
