"Defense attorneys argued that Colleen Rimer was controlled by Stan, saying her Mormon religion taught her to obey her husband."

When the priesthood speaks - the thinking's been done?
"It's not so much that FARMS scholarship in the area Book of Mormon historicity is "rejected' by the secular academic community as it is they are "ignored". [Daniel Peterson, May, 2004]

Yeah, nice defense - how absolutely ridiculous!
"I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. ... Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I." - Joseph Smith, 1844

I am not seeing the connection between obeying your husband and leaving your disabled child in a hot car for 17 hours in the summer. *cries*

What a terrible thing to do to another human being, especially a child in such a vulnerable state. And, Joey, any rational human being knows that the priesthood had nothing to do with this.

Exactly. Horrifying and tragic and without any relation to the priesthood.
