Fox News on Warren Jeffs Trial

Post by _Joey »

Just finished watching Sheppard Smith on Fox with his two consulting attorneys discussing Jeffs and his up coming trial. Smith comes right out and declares Jeffs church and followers "a cult leader and a cult". He elaborTes and defends his remarks by stating that Jeffs' followers believe he is a prophet of God and God's mouthpiece on earth and that Jeffs' teachings provide that his followers can become Gods of their own world in the next life. How long before someone informs Fox News that these are the same claims of LDS Church doctrine?

Why don't you just tell Roger Ailes or Rupert Murdoch yourself, next time you're golfing or biking with them?

I think the point is that the only real difference between the two is that Joseph was a charismatic person who started a religion. Warren just inherited his leadership role, and grew up in a religion Joseph started. They are more in line with how Joseph Smith and BY were running things then the LDS church is today, which is a very good thing. Hopefully we will see more good changes down the road.

During my preparations for testifying in the Brian David Mitchell trial, I read very extensively on so-called "Mormon fundamentalism." I think you're completely wrong.

I also think that I'm going to write something on the topic within the next six months or so.

I think for the most part you are right.  But its obvious that Jeffs had his own charisma in many ways.  But what we will actually be seeing in so many ways will be the trial and outcome of the Smith trial that never took place.  These two individuals are such striking mirror images of each other that the LDS Church is more fearful of this coverage than they were of the trial of Mitchell this year.  The similarities of Jeffs and Smith are too many and too long to list here, but their claims, control, sexual dominance and desires, egos and final public perceptions are so spot on with each other that this will be generating a lot of damage control PR by the LDS church.

Yet you can't provide how they are different in regards to Mormonism. Many members recognize this, which is why these groups are very uncomfortable for LDS leadership.

I said that I'm probably going to write something on the topic within the next six months or so.

Which means that I'm probably going to write something on the topic within the next six months or so.

So, since I'm probably going to write something on the topic within the next six months or so, you probably shouldn't conclude too confidently that I can't say anything about it.

Because, don't forget, I'm probably going to write something on the topic within the next six months or so.

I'm in awe.

That is, without question, the most substantive post that I've ever seen from Joey. In fact, it may be the first substantive note that he's ever posted.

It's essentially wrong, of course, but, still, I don't want to denigrate the sheer, stunning, achievement of it.

Congratulations, Joey!

Is there any chance of you being called as an expert witness in the Jeffs trial?
