Mr. Stak beat me to the punch, and with a much better response than what I would have offered in fact. I don't know how many ex-mainstream Christian stories I've read that are similar. No one told many an evangelical that the Bible was edited and that there is evidence according to some scholars that the New Testament is a result of some agenda driven changes.

The loss of faith/disillusionment event is similar, but the struggles with an authoritarian power structure are not.
