It's because he was scared of Joseph -- Joseph had some unspeakable power over Shades and ran this board with an iron fist.
Joseph tried to close down Dr. Shade's Message Board. Yet, I have NEVER tried to close down Dr. Shade's Message Board, and I get Snapped at by him. ... If the Owner of this Message Board doesn't really want me Posting anymore here, than I should seriously think about having my account deleted here. Brackite, your posts do contain a certain amount of redundancy, which I find charming. It is your brand and I like it. I don't think Shades was trying to slam you. It was almost endearing in my mind.
I think Shades was alluding to this name alternately being an unmentionable curse in Mongolian. Considering the meaning, "testy" would have been a good pun had you also added in a group of nuns and Yak milk.
