Leading US right-wing broadcaster Glenn Beck has been slammed by the Norwegian government for on-air comments he made comparing the teenage victims of the weekend’s massacre to the Hitler Youth.
In a radio show broadcast in the US overnight, former Fox News presenter and Tea Party poster-boy Glenn Beck said, "There was a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like, you know, the Hitler Youth or whatever. I mean, who does a camp for kids that's all about politics? Disturbing."
A former press secretary to Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg slammed Beck's statements as a "new low", saying they were "ignorant" and "extremely hurtful".
My rumor is that Beck issued that opinion to help garner support for his upcoming Jerusalem crusade. Unfortunately, Beck aficionado Anders Behring Breivik is currently being held on charges stemming from these deaths.
I too find the concept of this camp disturbing. On a normal day if someone discussed it I'd listen and be concerned.
To bring this up right after a group of children are murdered at said camp is disgusting. Also, Beck needs to learn Godwin's Law and live it.

Glenn Beck needs to have his mouth sewn shut. If he wants to talk about political indoctrination he should look to the 9/12 project camps he inspired.

Glenn Beck's own organization sponsors such political youth camps. However, Beck's camps teach the "right" way of thinking regarding conspiracies rather than simply the process of democracy.

Okay in that case Beck should be publicly shunned.

So, uh, what exactly was this Norwegian summer camp teaching its attendees?
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

It's a summer camp for young people (not children) who are interested in a particular political party. The relevant groups in the U.S. would be something like the Young Democrats or Young Republicans, who also sponsor student retreats and get togethers. It runs for four days during the annual summer vacation time in Norway. They hold debates and listen to lectures by people like former Prime Ministers. They also play soccer and swim and listen to concerts.
Of course, Shades, you could know this by a bit of Googling or reading about politics outside of the US. But by all means go ahead and assume it's something weird.

It's not exactly unknown in America, as shown by Moksha's and my links in relation to 9/12 Project material. In addition to the Glenn Beck inspired 9/12 Project "Liberty camps" (where they learn about capitalism and freedom and how William F. Buckley ghost wrote the Declaration of Independence after Jefferson devolved into an secularism aided insanity) you can look at other religious groups that infuse politics into their religious indoctrination (see the documentary Jesus Camp for one example).

Exactly. Which is why anyone being "disturbed" (Beck, Nehor) or wondering "just what they taught there" is so damned idiotic.
