Another concern among church members is that a porn problem will lead to a homosexuality problem.

[Masturbation] too often leads to grievous sin, even to that sin against nature, homosexuality. For, done in private, it evolves often into mutual masturbation—practiced with another person of the same sex—and thence into total homosexuality.

- Prophet Spencer W. Kimball, The Miracle of Forgiveness, p. 78

Porn leads to masturbation which leads to homosexuality. It doesn't take a mathematician to figure out that if 70% of the men in the church have a porn problem, it won't take long until the church turns almost totally gay. This is a very serious issue!!!

Is masterbation a revelation sin by Mormons. Because masterbation is not a sin among Christians. The Bible never speaks of it.

If the church really wants to fight porn addiction, they should announce over the pulpit that porn is no longer a sin. Shame is what fuels addiction.

Do we all agree that, regardless of whether or not the Church is correct in their characterization of pornography, their attempts to deal with it are wholly inadequate?

Except that the people who do porn are commiting a sin. Most are not married and are having multiple partners. Watching porn is watching people fornicating.

I think that the concern is more with the easiness of accessing porn. Go back to the seventies and porn was basically in the movie theatres. Not much of threat since most of the customers were down and out men in need of a job. For 3 dollars one could sit in a porn theatre for several hours and keep warm. Then came the vcr but since the cassettes were rather bulky, they were rather difficult to hide from mom, dad, wife and kids. Then came the dvd and although the dvd was thin and easy to hide, it still could be found by snopping eyes. But once porn entered the internet, well, it became much more easier to access and do in secret. Thus, the problem.

No. It is the imaging that fuels the addiction. Porn producers know very well just what keeps porn viewers viewing porn and it is certainly not shame. Porn is sex without shame, guilt and emotion. All three can be highly addictive when it comes to viewing porn. Also, porn producers know how to lock into men's fantasies. And they use their knowledge very well. Thus, the addiction.

Whether or not you think it's a sin, the way the church goes about it now just makes it worse. If porn is a problem, the church is exacerbating it. Hard and frequently, too. No lube, even.

I realize you're a self-educated expert in porn and masturbation, but what I'm talking about is a real psychological effect. The church shoots itself in the foot by shaming these guys.
