I've never seen a special priesthood meeting (ie, General Conference, or Stake meetings) that didn't harp on porno.
Well what do you mean by "obsessively talk about what a menace it is"? I mean saying porn is a mance doesn't really cover the "obsessively talk about" it right? There may have been a few talks, like in Priesthood meeting, or in local meetings, that essentially say porn is a mance, but i don't think i've ever witnessed, and granted I might be missing much since I very likely tune out when porn becomes a topic, one talk that can be said to obsessively talk about it being a menace? Just one will do so I can get an idea of what you're talking about.

I ain't nuttin'. don't get all worked up on account of me.

Bring it up frequently, shame those who do it, scare people about supposed consequences (not backed up by any data), etc.
Thanks Buffalo. It appears you are beginning to get there--although I have to question wether your characterization of "unhealthy obsession" has any standing on this, any more than the author of the article itself. Now we need to find just one talk. But to actually support your allegation you'd have to show that every single talk speaks of pornography like this little article did--which I admit I hadn't read, nor have I seen much of anything similar to this in Church. I simply don't pay attention to the topic, perhaps?

From what I remember porn is usually talked about every priesthood session, on average once every two months at church, and in most interviews with the bishop. I would guess the average LDS person hears about the evils of porn it least once a month from the church. I would say they harp on about it.

I had a list and it got ate. Oh well. Yes, it is touched upon often. At least monthly in one meeting or another.
There is also a mention on the ward bulletin about the 12 step recovery program for porn addiction and the support group for wives.
Right now our area also is passing around a petition to remove access to porn from the public library. So it is talked about every Sunday while this petition thing is going on.

I could be wrong, but they don't publish the priesthood session talks yea? Might account for the low (186???) general conference #s....Yea, they are not obsessed...lol (http://combatingpornography.org - LDS? :))

Addiction is something that makes your life become unmanageable. The Church cares nothing about that. If you looked at porn a few times a week with no ill effects on your life, the Church would shame you into believing you have a huge porn addiction.
I don't' know if you all caught it but Buffalo implied pornography is talked about in every priesthood talk. I don't think seeing that it is mentioned 186 times in General Conference, which includes priesthood session, quite qualifies for what Buffalo was describing. I don't see how mere mentions of it is somehow obsessing over it either. But whatever. As i said, i don't really pay much attention to it. It seems people here discuss it as much if not more than they do in GC--afterall many of those references were from 40 years ago and such.
Anyway, thanks for the discussion, as I said, overall, this topic doesn't interest me too much. I just found Buffalo's characterizations overstated at the very least.
