Well, those gospel doctrine threads did give you a balloon head. And then when you were released you took it personal not realizing that four years is actually a long time for a sunday school teacher in gospel doctrine since the circle is complete and you would be repeating yourself with the beginning of a new season of the new testament etc.

No one cares what you think.

Hope this helps. :)

No, and your intelligence has nothing to do with it.

Just found what appears to be a promising speech on the subject by John Welch from May 17th of this year, called "Thy Mind, O Man, Must Stretch."

(I am doing an awful lot of preparation for a class I am never going to teach . . .)

I had a mind blowing lecture today in my Hermeneutics independent study class today, and it reminded me of your plight Consig. I wish I had my thoughts collected well enough to share something with you, but I'm still kind of shaken up, so to speak.

I'd be very interested to hear about it once your thoughts are collected enough to share, and especially why it would remind you of my plight.

This has probably been said already somewhere in the last five pages, but:

I doubt very much that it is any kind of trap. I doubt your PH leaders have enough motive or concern to muster the effort for a trap of any kind. More than likely, the bishop has gotten a complaint from someone who heard a lesson of yours that felt it crossed some arbitrary doctrinal line. He was probably threatened by said member, pun intended, with the "if you don't fix Consig, I will go over your head to the SP", and so he was inspired to have you teach the lesson on coloring inside the lines. I can remember being inspired many times as a PH leader to "fix" members who needed instruction by having them give a sacrament talk or lesson on their "problem" area.

I doubt there is a bishop in the church who would know what to do if they did "catch" someone in a heretical trap of some sort. You are giving the church and its lay leaders too much credit. If there was drama like this actually occuring in the church, I might have to attend again to watch it.

I think you are no doubt correct, but the thought has crossed my mind that perhaps the list of ne'er-do-wells being compiled on the board from which I was banned may have figured out my secret identity, forwarded it on to the Strengthening Church Members Committee who then released a homing pigeon ala Terry Malloy to my bishop outlining this diabolical plot.

Well, I hope that the Danites don't hunt you down. I would love to "visit" your ward this Sunday. I am still a High Priest (snort), and would love to sit in as a visitor?

why me wrote:... And what decisions should the LDS church be encouraging in its members? For example, can a branch in Russia decide not to have sacrament meeting but offer a prayer meeting instead? Or have candles in the chapel as they do in an orthodox service? Is this independent thinking?

You know this is precisely what I thought when I heard the Paris McDonalds allowed the Quarter Pounder with Cheese to be called "Les Royale Deluxe" or their French fries, "Les Frites". I mean, what hath God wrought or what? Unchecked, variety could lend itself to increased interest and improvement. It might even rouse the High Priests out of a much deserved slumber.

Oh c'mon. You know I'm just yanking your chain about being in your Stake. But yes I do believe that if you don't agree with the Church on what it considers to be official doctrine and refuse to implement it's cirriculum when you are in a position to do so, you are an apostate by definition.
