The Sacred Language of Jacobean English

Post by _moksha »

Did you know that Jacobean English is the sacred language? It has all the formality with words like Thee and Thou. It is both reverential and the preferred language of prayer. It is pleasing to the ears of God even through the vacuum of space.

So what about the Divine document called the Constitution of the United States? You know, the original one without all those amendments. It is well written but in modern English. It is like it is hanging by a thread in the sacredness department, but that can change with the arrival of a glorious knight riding on a white horse. The knight could be anyone of the chosen, Mitt Romney, Dr. Daniel C. Peterson, Loran Blood, Orson Scott Card, etc.... Just as long as they have the keys to do so, the Constitution can be rewritten in Jacobean English, although I am hazarding a guess that Adamic would be an acceptable substitute.

Your thought on this subject?

And it came to pass, we the people...

I think it would be a wonderful start to the sacralization of our discourse if all LDS apologists on this board were only allowed to post in Jacobean English. I'd even settle for the D&C pastiche version, if that is the best that can be managed.

I shan't be satisfied myself until the entire board is limited to using Old English alliterative verse in the manner of Beowulf. But let us at least make a start.
Zadok:
I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.
