I am amazed that such a big deal was made out of what was really a fairly unremarkable disagreement between an advisor and a grad student. It is the response that is bizarre, not the initial issue.

You can read and write and I've never seen you make egregiously boneheaded arguments (like, for example, complaining about "made up words"). I can't judge much beyond interaction on this board and a few peeks at your blog, but you strike me as appreciative of intellectual endeavor and well capable of it. I think I've seen you blow up a few times, but never anything that would register on a Simonometer or pass the skains test. For the most part you're pretty genial these days.

Would it make you feel better if, instead of "spectacular" I said "severely problematic"? Or would you still consider that spin?

It is more like an array of cottage, voluntary efforts, a few of which receive support from the LDS Church. I thought you guys were eager to disabuse us of the notion of these hierarchies on the grounds that they are "Scratchian" or some such.
What guys? I have no interest to put me in the company, in terms of scholarly acumen, as Peterson, Bokovoy or you for that matter. I'm cool with that.
Love ya tons, Stem
I ain't nuttin'. don't get all worked up on account of me.
Well, I'll be. I suppose a couple of days ago, as my questions went partially answered, it did sound like Ritner didn't like Gee. Well I guess we'll see what Kevin says, he seems to think, in his speculation, that it was partially personal, for Ritner. I don't know if I do anymore. I hereby revise my opinion on the matter.

It remains embellishment, of course. And with that, yes, its spin. he said he perceived problems. Not that those problems were all that bad at all. Afterall, he seemed to still think Gee would be awarded a Ph.D.

It doesn't take a PhD to do apologetics, Stem.

Yep.

It's "embellishment" and "spin" to use Ritner's exact wording?

I really appreciated Blixa's revaluation of Joseph Antley. He deserves respect.
Tangential Question:
Whatever became of that young apologist the Rominator (I can't remember exactly what he called himself). I do remember he went to East High School in SLC.
