WTF post of the day from I'm a Mormon website

Post by _hugh jass »

While reading John Dehlin's limp I'm a Mormon profile, I randomly clicked on a profile within the block of profiles to the right side and clicked Elisabete Affonso's profile.

Her profile was quite lame and tame.

However, what was at the bottom under the "Frequently Asked Questions"was quite humorous and I must post it under the first WTFPOTD from Mormon.org:

The question poised for unwitting members to ask was
"What is the attitude of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?"

The second answer is a ticking time bomb posted by a gay Mormon:

Joshua on Im A Mormon wrote:I am sexually attracted to other males. For a while, I struggled with how a loving Heavenly Father could allow for me to be attracted to other males, and then ask me to abstain from same-sex relationships.

However, as I have tried to deal with my attractions in a Christ-like manner, I have found that He really does love me. I have grown so much spiritually as I have learned to deal with my same-sex attractions.

I now understand that everyone has challenges in this life. I am no different. The Church has a high standard on morality. The only sexual relationships that are permitted are between a man and his wife. This may prove difficult for both people with same-sex and opposite-sex attractions.

However, I believe that by obeying this law, we can gain greater peace and happiness. God does know what is best for us, and He gave us this law to bless us.

Same-sex marriage distorts what marriage is all about. It is based on the lie that because you are attracted to the same sex, you need to be in a same-sex relationship in order to be "true to yourself". Many members of the Church can testify that this is not true.

Some have found peace and joy in celibacy, and others gone on to have faithful and fulfilling marriages. For a long time, I thought I couldn't get married, but the Lord has blessed me to develop a sexual attraction to a beautiful woman and we have a wonderful marriage.

Wow.

Just in case the censors at the LDS HQ delete it, here is a screen capture:

How so? He puts is as a matter of morality and states he ended up marrying the opposite sex.

Because he stated this fact at the beginning of his mo'file:

I am sexually attracted to other males.

If I understand this statement, he is still attracted to men in a sexual way.

So you assume he's totally "cured?" I kind of doubt it. His poor wife is in for a rough time.

I do not wish to get this thread banished to Telestial, but as a matter of information may I point out that there are some people who report that they find themselves sexually attracted to both men and women at the same time?

If that is the case with this person, he may be quite capable of having a fulfilling relationship with his wife, even if he will (presumably) have double the temptations to adultery that more conventionally oriented people have.

That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

Poor woman. Trapped in a loveless marriage by a guy trained by his church to hate himself.

It's entirely possible to be bi-sexual. And there are many people who are trapped in loveless marriages. And it would be hard to find a group of members who are trained to love themselves. We tend to think of ourselves as unworthy... well, the women do, anyway.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

From his own post, it sounds like he had to work hard to convince himself he was attracted to the woman. I don't think it would require any effort if he were bisexual.

Joshua, so you are giving yourself up to a belief in scripture that is interpreted to mean only opposites are to be married. Yet, the same scripture identifies lust as being as bad as adultery. So, are you a believer who is admitting to lusting after males, while having a female wife? And, if you are, does your wife know about this?

As do many men Harmony. Take my word for it.
