So when you said this....

Have you seen him post on MAD since he left here? I haven't.

What other forums has he been active on since he left here?

....you were probably being a teeny tiny weeny itsy bitsy little bit misleading just to protect the sensitivities of the posters here who were not going to receive an invitation to your board.
Got it.

Dan does have severe time constraints. The only thing he agreed to post on my board was some research I had asked him about a while ago. It is still something that will probably take him several weeks to get back with me on, which is what he came on my board to tell me.

Dr Scratch, I fear that this cannot be true.

On the thread entitled 'Has Provo checked out', when I said this:
and were he not still active on other forums.

Liz responded with this:

Have you seen him post on MAD since he left here? I haven't.

What other forums has he been active on since he left here?

Giving the impression that her good friend had given up message boards altogether due to time pressures, rather than just the one that was asking him questions difficult to answer.

I'm sure Liz wouldn't have said that if Dr P was posting on her website...Liz?

You are correct. I had no intention of making my board public.

It is nearly impossible to have a board closed to the public and have an invitation board only unless you have such security in place. However, if the same people here sign up there you will need to be very strict in your moderation and ban people. If not, your board will resemble this board in no time at all.

It is not easy controlling the posts on a board. MDD does a good job and that is why Mormons post there. Hopefully you have took everything into consideration beforehand.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.

The degree to which several on that board seem to be fueled by sheer personal hatred astonishes me. (There were the usual suspects, of course, but I'll admit that a particularly vicious remark from LDSToronto caught me by surprise.)

Wallowing in persecution-complex ecstasy is a time-honored Mormon tradition. That's why Brigham Young was so eager to blame the MMM on the Indians - it distracts from the "persecuted therefore right" script.

It doesn't take much to be repectful of others when it comes to internet posting. We just need to be who we would be if we were speaking to people in person. I seriously doubt that the insulters are so insulting in the non-cyberworld.

Dr. Peterson didn't leave because of insults. In fact, the personal remarks were the only thing keeping him here. He almost never responded to anything substantive or contributed anything substantive.

"Mormon Discussions is like a great caravan—organized, prepared, following an appointed course, with its captains of tens and captains of hundreds all in place.

What does it matter if a few barking dogs snap at the heels of the weary travelers? Or that predators claim those few who fall by the way? The caravan moves on.

Is there a ravine to cross, a miry mud hole to pull through, a steep grade to climb? So be it. The oxen are strong and the teamsters wise. The caravan moves on.

Are there storms that rage along the way, floods that wash away the bridges, deserts to cross, and rivers to ford? Such is life in this internet. The caravan moves on.

Ahead is a discussion board where people just say what they want, a free marketplace of ideas, where all who maintain their position in the caravan shall find food and drink and rest. Thank God that the caravan moves on!"
