My guess is that now that they have encouraged every member to make a profile they don't really have time to screen them all.

Either you are in or you are out. It's often necessary for some to play semantics games so their families never find out their secrets, and I understand not wanting to hurt your family. What I garnered from this post was that this person enjoys the social aspects of the church, but doesn't believe most of the doctrine, which is really crazy, because if you look hard enough, you can find people to hang out with who agree with you on doctrinal issues. For me, it's more intellectually brutal and spiritually damaging to women, and I don't socialize with women who think they have to work their way to heaven, or, share men in the afterlife. I've got better things to do with my time, and my self worth is above that.

I think it's really crazy to stop believing in the doctrine, and solely based on disbelief, dump all your LDS friends.

It's not necessarily good to dump all your LDS friends, but let's face it, once you've moved into another realm of philosophy, it's hard to "fake" it around those who are still working their asses off to get to heaven. Life is ever much more pleasant and easy when not playing both sides of the fence.

You're right. It is hard to fake it. And that's why I don't. All my LDS friends are more or less familiar with my views and not one single thing has changed about those relationships. We even talk just as much about religion and Mormonism as we always have. Honestly, a lot of the world's problems have to do with people not being mature enough to have friendly disagreements. It's sad.

You know even though I attend and participate and all I do not feel a need to work to get the heaven. And I am still quite comfortable around my active LDS friends.
